You will spend a lot of time developing it, and at the end nobody will use it - even you. You will only end up with better understanding of php.
Knowing html and css is having knowledge of light cms.

I've built a custom CMS.. your both welcome to look at it as well as use it if you like. I spent +2 years building it.. around 700,000 lines of code.. and its a lot better then wordpress in my opinion for this kind of thing (building out typical sites as seen on warrior forum.. landing pages, blogs, membership sites, etc etc).

If you like my posts please leave a thanks and message me if you wish for me to follow up with your thread. I enjoy engaging with entrepreneurs and ALWAYS willing to take the time to offer solid answers that you can take to the bank. Internet marketing has made me rich over the last +20 years and this is how I give back to the community for all of those evil popunders I used to sling in the 90s.

I agree with the others, what good reason would you want to do that? Spend all that time when you could have used something that is ready to go. And many available CMS systems, can be customized easily. Like Wordpress, it can do so many things these days.

Why you need to create entire CMS from scratch? You Metronic CMS instead and make customization according to the stuff you need and comment rest of stuff

If you have the time, a great team and budget, building your own CMS is fun and great. And if you do not have a very fancy requirements then development time is lesser.
But if you are coding alone and wanted something similar like wordpress and Joomla, then give yourself a year or more.

Pagekit started it's development in 2012 but it's not out til now. It has been developed by a team with tools already developed but still takes alot of time for them.

You can use wordpress or joomla as other members replied in this post. But I think you should learn custom php designing and then use dreamweaver to design php websites as it is of most fun and also it will earn you more.

  • Instead of trying to build these (typically) big and complicated programs from scratch, you should download a proven mature product where they have already worked out many of the bugs and spent the hundreds of hours refining them.
