Can you recommend a dependable hosting service

We have been working with Servage for some months now and we are experiencing serious problems.

Today, common sense has told us to look for a dependable host for our site, because these irresponsible people seem to have misplaced or simply deleted some folders, which means having to do some work over again ...Yeah! Lucky for us, the site is still in it's development stage, but if this is the appetizer, I don't want to know what the dessert is.

We are thinking of moving over to HostGator. Can anyone tell me anything about it ...good and bad?

I use host gator. I switched to them several months ago and have had no problems at all with it. I have the business package which is quite reasonably priced for unlimited domains. You can see short reviews on a couple providers I have had experience with at my website mariposanet dot com. (Sorry, can't post links yet). I need to update my article with some new info, but the host gator stuff is the same.

I would have to agree. Hostgator has been great for me. I have not had experience with any other hosting service, however i have never had a problem with them. They allow monthly billing and there are plenty of coupons out there to get the first month free! Good Luck

I am pretty happy to recommend my host, hostpc.com. They have everything HG has for about a quarter of the price. Support is excellent even down to answering dum, dum questions and they are the only host I've noticed having a "test site speed" link right on the home page.

I do have an affiliate link in the sig site footer if you are feeling super enthusiastic, but they pay so little for referrals it doesn't make much difference. The HG commission is a minimum of $70 last time I checked and goes a lot higher, and this has to come out of what you pay them. Not everyone agrees but this gets me grouchy.

i recomend godaddy, never had any major problems, if my scripts where doing some errors to server they have call me home at 2h at the morning. Also they move trouble sites to other server and ocne you fix the problems(they help you allot in fixing) you egt back on origial server, this process guarantee that some other website wotn hurt your website.

Thanks, guys. I think we'll probably go with Host Gator being that it is the most recommended on the forum. GoDaddy might be a good runner-up, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    For ease-of-use: Media Temple
    For powerful dev environment: Slicehost
    For multi-site management: Mosso

First two are $20/mo while Mosso is $100

^I wont recommend GoDaddy. Their interface sucks, very slow. It takes a long time for simple changes to becom effective.

Don't use Godaddy as stated above interface sucks and they are not really user friendly. Look for hosting that has a cPanel for easy navigation. We use BlueHost, it has been the best. You get unlimited domains, one FREE Domain Name for life, a cpanel, lots of easy to use scripts, easy Wordpress Install and a whole bunch more.

Very affordable, get your hosting account here http://www.BlueHost.Com/track/thefreelancesquad

I use both 1and1.com and HostGator. Both have great features. For example, 1and1.com has a feature called Dynamic Content (DC). With DC, you can add real time news and fresh content from a wide variety of topics automatically to your site. Their control panel takes a bit of getting use to, though. Hostgator, on the other hand, has cPanel, which I like best, and a host of other features that compel me to rate them higher than 1and1.com.

I love bluedomino.com, a small company with great service.

The interface is very fiendly and has a lot of cool features like pre-installed joomla for example. I host every site I can in there!

I would recommend Hostgator. You can try it out for next to nothing in cost and the support there is superb. Godaddy is a pain when you are working with Wordpress... and they aren't much help if you are trying to install wordpress on their hosting either.

    Hello,

I don't recommend either 1&1 or bluehost. Their hosting is too slow. My top favorite is Arvixe web . Excellent support, reliable hosting and very cheap. I am never leaving them.
