I'v been active with my blog recently, it's a fitness/health blog and I feel it looks noobish. I want to improve the colors, content, and anything you guys suggest. Please help a fellow blogger out

    First you need to improve your site's performance.
    I did a test using Pingdom tools and you need to improve Website speed test

    You can install a caching plugin like W3 Total Cache, here's a guide to set it up How to install and setup W3 Total Cache Plugin

    After that you should work on look and feel, pick a good theme. A premium theme (if possible)
    There are pretty good themes like this one Generate Pro Theme by StudioPress which is optimized for higher conversions/subscriptions (let me know if you need this theme)

    Or if you want to go with a free magazine layout theme then checkout WordPress › Hueman « Free WordPress Themes

    Focus on your site's loading time. It mine more than 2 secs to load, that is not good. I would suggest you lowering your total post previews on your homepage. Keep it to around 3-5 posts but with more insight to the post.

    It's simple which is good, I like the format but maybe improve a bit on spacing the right toolbar to the previews of the posts in the middle. Everything is a bit cramped up in the middle.

    The sites a bit too white for me. Try adding a background or making your sidebar a different color, that will help! What WP theme are you using?

    You have a good start there.

    To me the design look "noobish" as you mentioned, it think the site would benefit a lot from a new theme, for example: WordPress - Osage - Multi-Use WordPress Magazine Theme | ThemeForest

    Also your cache plugin isn't doing everything it could and should do, settings need tweaking.

      It looks like a pretty good start. I don't like the sidebar being so close to the main content, I don't know what theme your using but if you know any CSS you should be able to at least create a border on the right side of your inner site so there's more of an obvious separation.

      As mentioned above you don't have to use a slider either. If you want to create more interest on some specific posts you could add larger featured ones at the top.

      If you're going to keep a blog layout with your latest posts on the front page you could replace your recent posts widget with a popular posts one. Or pick a few articles you want to promote and have them there. Also consider removing the RSS social icon if you'd rather have people sign up to your email list.
