    Hello Fradlong,
You may use any of the above platform to create an responsive website.
The frontend of the website determines the responsiveness and if you use HTML5 and responsive principles your website can be viewed on any of the devices easily.

May I know which industry this website is made for? The purpose of the website will determine which platform (wordpress, opencart etc) best suits your need

    Regards
    Sara

If you constantly update WP to the newest version, use security plugins and make regular backups, you should have no problems with hacks.

Not sure if you have chosen yet but here is my two cents. Are you able to build your own website or will you have to pay someone to do this for you? If you are familiar with web design and coding then wordpress is a good choice as there is a ton of support and thousands of people like you and me using it. There are a few cache plugins that will speed up your site and lots of support for different tweaks that also help to speed up your site. As for the hacking concerns, it all comes down to upgrading and making sure your server is secure. Even then nothing is 100% secure even for the big stores. It is a constant management regime to keep your site secure and not a one time thing. There are lots of ecommerce alternatives out there to wordpress like open cart, zencart, magento, etc but the same rule applies to them also.

If you hire someone to do it for you make sure you will be able to afford to have them manage the site if you are unable to do it. Usually a competent web designer will charge a monthly fee for management which may or may not include upgrading your plugins, extension and core. Always ask up front what they will and will not provide for their price and choose the plan that you think you can afford. Good Luck

        fradlong.
As I said there are plugins for everything and security is no exception.
I had a problem with fake emails from back-linking programs. Just added "no disposable emails" plugin and poof fixed. Needed secure download section added "media vault" plugin, done.
Under add new plugins is a very powerful search engine, enter in "speed loading" or just use "Speed Booster Pack"; problem solved?

If you own ten shops in different cities I would suggest you investigate a store that is hosted for you. With only a few products you will be paying perhaps $15 to $50 per month and get the latest technology without the headaches. That way you can spend time on develloping your business both on-line and off-line and not have to worry about your web site.

It depends upon your website type:

If it's a kind of blogging then go with wordpress.
If it's a CMS type then go with Joomla.
Or if it's an e-commerce type then go with Opencart or Oscommerce.

Reading your original post and subsequent posts from others, I understand you need something that is profession and easy for you to manage. Profession, I mean Responsive. Then WordPress will be your best bet.

WordPress is easy to manage and with a Plugin known as Woocomerce, you will be able to setup your online store as well as create a company profile. There are plenty of themes that can get you started and support for WordPress is everywhere online.

If I were you, I would go with Magento or WordPress. With tons of plugins and extensions, its super easy to add features to the store.

As far as responsiveness is concerned, you can easily find responsive templates for both WordPress and Magento. Responsiveness has nothing to do with the content management system.

Its great you have considered a responsive design. There are a lot of advantages of having a responsive website.

WordPress is definitely your best choice, even for eCommerce website!

You said you wanted a 100% secure platform? I have to be honest with you- nothing is 100% secure. And even if they have patched their latest security holes, someone somewhere will always find a way to exploit something. This is just a game that the hackers and developers have been playing for ages.

If you are looking to create a responsive design yourself, or maybe convert an older WordPress theme into a responsive one, then I suggest reading about media queries. If you use L-Square for FireFox to identify at which screen size your content starts to break, you can easily change the layout using media queries in plain simple CSS.
