HTML and CSS are easy - the best way is to google a "full basic site design using html tutorial" and follow it.... you should be able to make a website in Notepad.

It's really easy to pick up with practice - the secret is: get the hell off the forum and get practicing. There are tonnes of free resources but none will help you unless you jump into it and get writing some code.

I code most of my sites in Notepad++ - raw - but I when I forget something or need to look up an element of code I just google it or use a cheatsheet.

    Peace,
    Gh0zt

Edit: Just to be clear, you shouldn't need a video tutorial to teach you how to WRITE something. If you don't know how to open Notepad, type some HTML into it and Save it as a .html file - you need to learn the basics of using a computer before you think about a career in web design

Edit2: One of the best tools available (especially when I started) is your browser! You can view the source code of any website just by right-click -> view source.

If you use firefox there is an extension called FireBug - it is amazing! I edited, in-page, the text under my profile name on the left then printscreened the result to get my avatar picture.

Beginners wanting to learn about html and css should begin by searching the search engines with a simple search string like "how do I learn html and css?" this will bring up a wealth of websites that will direct you down the path to learning. Here are a couple to get you started:
    HTML & CSS | Codecademy
Learn HTML & CSS - a book that teaches you in a nicer way
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Tutorials, References, and Articles | HTML Dog
CSS Video Courses and Tutorials from lynda.com

HTML is easier than CSS. CSS is more of a puzzle compared to HTML which is really basic. I read random sites that provide complete lists of codes. I remember buying a cheap book about HTML. It helped of course. But what will make everything pretty easier for you is to practice. Practice and practice. Look at sites you've always wanted to do and study their codes. You'll eventually get the hang of it.
