how come my website url is thisismywebsite.com/wordpress instead of thisismywebsite.com? how do i change it to that?
i'm using godaddy for domain and hosting

    That is because when you installed wordpress you allowed it to install into a sub directory instead of choosing your root. How did you install wordpress? Somewhere during the install process it should have asked where you wanted it to install and you would have been able to choose the directory. I would just remove everything and start over as you haven't made any customizations yet. Pay attention this time to all the steps and make sure it goes into your root and not a sub directory named wordpress. If you cannot figure it out GoDaddy should be able to help with this either through a support ticket or documentation on their site. Hope this helps.

    I would just simple move your site to the root and there several ways to do it with plugins or manually.

    It means you have installed WordPress as directory and you need to move it to your main domain (to root folder).
