Re dating Old Posts

Just wondering if you re-date old posts can this help in SEO.

For example I did a post in a wordpress site a couple of years ago and obviously it has dropped out of site but if I opened it and re-dated it to today will that effect SEO etc.

Just wondering if anyone has researched this.

    Never re-searched that before, but you could also re-date the article and redo the title and content to make it newer

      Most likely, events have overtaken your old post. Better to bring it up to date with a few additions and give it a fresh title. That's a good way to recycle your posts. I don't know about the implication on SEO though

    I agree, if you can add to it, like an update, could make a difference.

    Another idea would be to send traffic to the posts, like send a link to your list, get it listed somewhere. Spike in traffic might bring it back. Never tried or tested it, but couldn't hurt.
