Hostgator Affiliate Program Does Not Pay Many Commissions

There are posts all over the internet about how Hostgator does not pay affiliates for valid sales. There is a long thread on Warrior forums too with affiliates complaining.

I would share these opinions. Hostgator are a good webhosting company, but their affiliate program is highly questionnable.

We have been an affiliate of Hostgator via CJ for nearly a decade. Time and time we have referred valid customers to Hostgator, who have paid for their accounts, and 100% of the time Hostgator have not paid commission for the sale. God knows how many other customers there are which we have referred to Hostgator for whom we have not earned commission that we are not even aware of.

We have lost hundreds of dollars and would urge everybody to stay well clear of Hostgator's affiliate program. We have removed all our links.

You can surmise from the low EPC for Hostgator versus other webhosts on CJ how Hostgator are wriggling out of paying affiliates significant sums through their ruthless, unethical scrubbing.

In any other field in life, not paid people their hard earned hundreds of dollars would be considered be a theft.

Yes, i used to have the same experience with hostgator affiliate. Don't get me wrong, I love hostgator, I have a lot of my sites host under them. But I'm just completely annoyed by their affiliate system and probably never gonna use them.

If you're planning to promote hosting plans, I strongly suggest:

    1) Web Hosting Affiliate Program, Affiliate Web Hosting Incentives

PROS: They always pay on time. High commission.

CONS: Dreamhost will manually verify customer's information (credit cards info, personal details info) and this process may take quite awhile. I lost a handful of customers while dreamhost are verifying their information (i didn't lose a lot of affiliate though, but it's still painful)

    2) https://www.bluehost.com/cgi-bin/partner

    PROS: Pays on time.

CONS: Affiliate commission may not be the most attractive of all. They offer $90 in CJ but only $65 on their website. If you're based in U.S. or Canada.. please be their affiliate in CJ instead.

    Hope this help,
    Jeremiah

I m having problems with Hostgator receiving payments as well.
I had to contact them many tomes for affiliate fees that even though showed as valid they were never paid.
Their reply was "sorry about that, we'll send you payment right away".

There are so many affiliate programmes out there but I have found that sites that pay percentage commissions make the most money especially for sites that are running PPC to them.
UK2.NET and Daily are two such companies. UK2 has a tiered structure which pays upto 60% after only 22 sales of any item. They pay this out on dedicated servers as well as VPS which are big value items so you can do pretty well. Had some renewals cancelled but thats often the same in other programmes.

I sent them very highly targetted traffic earlier and not a single sale. I stopped promoting them.

My name is Adam Bravman, Affiliate Manager of HostGator.com. I saw your topic here on the forums and I wanted to reach out to you to see if I can help sort out the issues you have experienced with our CJ program.

Can you please respond with your CJ CID/PID? With that information, I will re-award your commission payments that have been corrected so we can come to a mutually beneficial resolution.

Please respond here via private message on the forums or email me directly at abravman at hostgator.com. Thank you and I hope you have a great day!

I think I will be sending you a email about my commissions, I have just started promoting hostgator and 4 out of 5 are 'invalid'

I do hope this is not true as I am spending a fortune on seo.

HostGator never pays their affiliates for their earned commissions. They usually cheat affiliates out by only paying 1 out of every 5 commissions you make (about 20 to 25%). You can email Adam all you want, and he will just tell you its the system that hasnt updated your account yet and the status will change in a couple days... Of course it never does. And HostGator will NEVER pay you for most of the comissions you earn. I've referred hundreds of sales to them and have finally stopped. They are a very dishonest program. Even if they say they didnt pay because the customer dropped out, seriously? 4 out of 5 customers drop out of hostgator?? I find that hard to believe. Especially when that never happens to all the other web hosts. I cant stress enough on how you should stay away from their scam affiliate program. Every web hosting affiliate should ban together and never represent them.

Thank Bajeebus that I found this thread. I was about to put together a massive campaign to promote hostgator. After reading this thread and then searching the internet about hostgator affiliate, it was nothing but page after page of people complaining.

Hands down they are doing shady business with their affiliates.

    That is freakin terrible. SHAME.

Im not falling into this pit. Now I have to scrap my plans with hostgator and find someone else.

It only took me once to watch my client sign up using my link and not get paid. Mind you I built the customers site and uploaded it myself to Hostgator.

Removed all of my links. But I do still use them for my hosting.

wow, I was just to start referring my clients, but just reading this it will never happen. Thank you guys. Thats business, if you screw people to cut corners and get ahead, you will get screwed sooner than later. Its a cosmic law.

Referred another client to Hostgator, who signed and paid up while I was sitting next to him. It's been a few weeks now and we've still not been paid our referral commissions.

The internet is flooded with Hostgator affiliates saying they've not been paid their commissions - it's shocking that such things can be allowed to happen.

I've never had a problem receiving comms from hostgator but just keep in mind that people abuse their affiliate program more that most others because they pay better than most others. So they probably do deny commissions more than most but like anything...

work with them and in time you'll build a business relationship and you'll both develop a mutual trust

I have heard stories about them not paying so I'm not doubting you, just saying that I've never personally had a problem.
