[Help Needed] Facebook Ad Tips

One of my best tips would be to link to a squeeze page within your fan page. It's like the coffee shop analogy.

People go on FB like to hang out, stalk pictures of their ex's, and talk with their friends. It's their own 'community'. Like a coffee shop.

With that in mind, I have gotten better conversions when my squeeze page was part of the FB community on a fan page, as apposed to a url outside of FB.

The static page app can help you do that.

Oh and also, always be changing up your pictures. Once your click rate goes down, change up your picture. You will (usually) get more clicks which also means your price per click goes down as well.

Here's how you can make your Facebook ads convert like gangbusters

Facebook ads nuke your wallet if you're not careful. Oh how I once lived your frustration as well. It's not easy and Facebook doesn't really help you in any way figure out what you're doing wrong. The good news is that once you "get it", that's all there is to it.

Here's a quick crash course in a few things I've picked up.

People are there to socialize, not to be sold so make sure the ad is fun and intriguing. Keep this in mind with the landing page as well. It's good for a "free report" optin and not a direct sale in most niches.

75% of Facebook ad success is the image. You'll notice that Facebook is blue so colors on the opposite end of the spectrum, reds and magentas really pop. Even if the images don't have those colors, I will tint it slightly red and/or put magenta stars on there. It has to be a major pattern interrupt. Think "poke them in the eyes"... figuratively of course.

People notice other people so images of people in emotional states get noticed. Smiles, crying, jumping for joy, pulling their hair out, etc. all get noticed.

Have a title that invokes curiosity. Once you've got their attention, you need them to read your first few words and want to read more. Read WSO titles if you need ideas.

Have a very clear call to action. If your ad doesn't tell them to "click here for free video" or something like that at the end, it will decrease conversions. If you offer a great product or service then don't be afraid to tell them exactly what to do next.

Rotate your ads. I just follow Perry Marshall's advice to rotate ads every 12 days or so unless it really gets seen a lot of people in a small niche.

Target the right people. The more specific you can target the better. Even if you have a national product, "Texas moms love this apple pie" is a better ad then "good pie" shown to the whole world. Make different ads for different interest groups and show them something that personally matters to them.

Don't sell the wrong products. If your product has a standardized price that can be found anywhere, like say jewellery, you'll get killed on Facebook. It should be a very emotional product that has virtually no pricing standards. A "curing herpes" ebook is 1000x better than selling a digital camera for that reason.

That's a very short answer on the issue but if you stick with images of emotional people that really stand out on Facebook, you'll inevitably see your conversions increase.

The best advice would be to know and understand your target market, exactly what they are looking for, and where they hang out on FB

You can target people according to other pages they've liked so you can look into competitors and target their already existing fans

Couldnt agree more with guypeleides list not much to add to that, make sure you target your market well, going as deep as possible without killing the reach off too much.

Run many different ads, make slight changes in the targeting on each and you can work out which targets are working best for you, make sure you take care in knowing which ones are getting results.

I'll add to some of the image tips here. Always use amateur photos, none of those stock image photos, they rarely perform. Another tip that always works well for me is to focus the object of interest in your image by blurring the background. Takes a while to do but it's worth it.

To be effective with facebook PPC it's good to already have an established brand and if you have an existing fan base that's even better.

where in the HELL do people get pictures to use for FB ads other than stock image vendors? they do not offer lower quality, amateur looking pictures. I've been told by many people that you can encounter lawsuits if you just use pictures from google for your ads, however, I see these types of pictures all over the place and nobody ever mentions where they get their pictures to use for facebook ads...

Can somebody answer this please??

Run dating or gaming CPA offers. Split test tons of images until you find CTR above 0.1%. Split test offers until you find a winner. Set a high daily budget to get lower CPCs. Get enough data before killing ads (1x-3x spend of offer payout). Keep it simple. Money in and money out. Profit and Loss. Optimize your funnel and bank!

I have found better success when I feature people in my ads, especially a close-up picture of a human face. Rather than put the picture of a model it is better to use a picture that is more natural and looks like a picture of a person in the neighborhood.

Using borders to images also pushes up CTR - use blue, red and any color that contrasts with the picture.

Like someone said above fanpages work best but you can use fanpages to build a list as well. They say the money is in the list and it is true. Once you have someone on your list and provide some good content you can promote offers to him or her for life.

Okay still... Everyone is saying to use lower quality images for your ads, but nobody is mentioning where to get these pictures.. Where can one go to obtain the rights to use these pictures in your ads?
