Landing page with PPV

If you are making landing pages with PPV, I understand how this is good in comparison to showing people the same old ad they have seen before (I guess thats direct linking)

But
Dont they have to click on your landing page which takes them to the CPA offer. So thats another step so that would decrease earnings because of that

or do you iframe the offer somehow

You can iframe the offer if your network allows it. Or else, I think the design of your LP determine the CTR. For instance, if you ran a PC repair campaign, you should have them click something like scan your PC or something in that nature. After they click the button, it will go to a fake loading page, then you show them that they have viruses or what not. And pop up the CPA offers.

This should work fairly well because most of these people have no clue when it comes to computer. Or else, they would have remove those adwarez in the first place.

Agreed, the more closely my offer is tied in aesthetically and thematically to my LP and domain I'm popping over the better my CTR.

indeed they will have to click on your landing page and call to action button to see your offer. It's kinda same other paid traffic but on cpv they actually see the LP directly instead on clicking on any other source such image ads, ppc ad etc.

Think of a landing page as a pre-sell page. It gets the reader interested in learning more.

In some cases, the landing page - while it may decrease click-throughs to the offer - actually increases conversions. And more conversions equals more money in your pocket, right?

But in other cases it doesn't, so it's best to test both approaches for a specific campaign.

I almost always use a landing page.

Often I will direct link at first just to see what type of interest there really is. Then use the landing page to reel them in and grab attention.

Then like videolover said... conversion increase.

You have to remember there is some psychology in this... Even clicking through to your offer they made a commitment. That commitment was to see what you have to show them. People that click through... convert more because of that initial commitment believe it or not.

That's the power of pre-selling. An effective landing page can often boost your conversions.

Also, some advertisers don't allow iframe their offers, be sure to contact your AM before running it.

Taking them to a landing page is for warming up the cold traffic. Just explain them the benefits of the offer and talk about why they would be interested.

Also landing pages will give you the control of tracking your traffic. When you direct link, you are pretty much like a headless chicken running around not knowing "what is happening and why". You need to gather data to get the best bang for your buck.

There is another big reason to use custom landing page with PPV and that is a pop-up or pop-under window size. For example, some PPV networks work with 800x600 window pop-ups so if you want to direct link to your offer, then make sure it is suitable for that window size.
