Dating Campaign on POF- Should I use Landing Pages?

Hey guys,

So, I am running my first dating campaign on POF with an angle. Getting the acceptable CTR of 0.1% from the 2 best peforming pics.

Should I go for a landing page related to that angle?

For eg: Let's say I'm targeting large women by pics of large guys but if I direct link, I'm probably going to reduce the chance of conversion as the default LP is generic.

But, if I use my own LP, Doesn't it mean that the user has to click once more to signup and eventually endup on the LP of the offer. Should I just iframe the registration on my LP.

I know you guys are going to say test. But,I have never done Landing pages before and don't really know how to go about it.

I would appreciate if someone could guide me on how a dating LP should look like and how to go about it.

What's your country? If you are from USA, then just create a POF account just to see or spy on what your competitor doing. Check other people landing pages, many people who running dating campaign on POF use landing pages. You can get some ideas after seeing their landing pages. If you are not from USA, then just find yourself a good US proxy to create the POF account to spying other people ads and landing pages on POF. There are also some POF AdSpy tools out there but I like to do it manually without tools.

Me personally also use landing pages because sometimes it can increase ROI. Sometimes I use multiple landing pages and track it to find out which one better than the other. This is just about increasing ROI and make more profits.

definitely use LP, especially for your angle. Your LP will "convince" the user to sign up, it's not about the "extra clicks needed to convert" it's about getting rid of the visitors that would never convert if they get to the offer's page and convincing the users who are not sure.

There is no point if you do not use an LP. It will be a total failure. A landing page is a very vital part of this kind of a campaign

      Yes you should.

More importantly - why are you asking this question here?

Rule number 1 - when looking to monetize a traffic source (i.e buy traffic and send to CPA offers) look at what everybodu else is doing there. What type of creative are being run? What type of uset flow is beimg used?

Before buying traffic from a new source to arbitrage - make a folio / have your assistants make a folio of the landscape.

Competitive research is vital. There's no point trying ti re-invent the wheel!

Dear lord, I totally bombed with POF when I tried. Definitely opt for a landing page and don't forget to keep uploading new ads. It's the only way to achieve any decent level of success with POF.

Thanks for the help guys. Now, If you tell me what sort of Landing pages should I try out?

Should I just iframe the offer and replace the images with the images of my angle?

I always say use landing pages. Without a doubt. I like to capture every single lead I get so I can re market to. Even if you dont capture a lead on your landing page and its just a gateway page you can still maximize your conversions like crazy.

Don't iFrame the offer. It's un-neccesary and you will run into compliance issues.

What is everybody else using as a lander?

There is your answer as to what type of lander should you use.

I was wondering too what kind of landing pages you would recommend for POF!

I'm currently running my first POF campaign, got 29.000 impressions so far, 20 clicks and 1 conversion.

I think my conversion rate is really low- I'm using a landing page which looks pretty nice in my opinion. It's one big call to action banner, a testimonial with picture, 6 small profile pics with short info, references like NY Times, GeoIP, Expiration date, logo of the dating site and 3 points why users should sign up. All customized to my angle.

your ctr it too low for POF - 0.07%. you need to sort that out first.
you cant judge conversions after only 20 clicks and less than a day old campaign.
also you cant blame your landing page while you are unable to track your clickthroughs as you mentioned in your other thread, since you dont know your lp ctr. You could have received 1 clickthrough to your offer or you could have had 20. get that sorted out first before you run any more traffic.

concentrate on finding pictures/ad copy for your angle that give you at least 0.15% ctr, run for a few days and get AT LEAST 100 clicks, then look at your conversion rate.

All together my CTR is low, that's true- But I'm testing.
Meaning that there are a few creatives already which seem to perform well (CTRs over 0.1), but I need more volume to be sure.

Have you seen a dating sites direct link? women and men images with a register box in the middle,

Builds no trust and will cause almost everyone to just leave. With a landing page you can fine tune it to sell the offer, this way when they click the link to the offer it no longer matters how horrid there page looks as you did the selling with your LP

              Always use a landing page

I'm working on some targeted landing pages myself. First time for it. Decided to make 3 and split test over 50 POF images, tracking with prosper202. Here's hoping it works out. I would be so disappointed if I couldn't make a go of it on POF

I've heard it's not so bad on there what with all the targeted traffic and such? My SOI offer pays $7.80, so I shouldn't need that many conversions to at least break even. Others don't think it's a good lead funnel?

This is a common misconception, that I as with anyone have had for a long time.
A landing page does not prevent possible leads, it filters out those not interested. It also helps build and pre-sell the offer (of course being the main point) if done properly.

In short, whether you use a lander or not a majority of the people who dont click through would not have signed up anyway.

The better explanation is, the lander will provide the smooth transition from your ad to your offer while pre-selling. As you said, if you direct link and they are expecting people with larger body types - and thats not what they see - well guess what, this is a disconnect and your conversions will drop. They see nothing related to bigger mates and are likely confused, so they just exit.

Throw a landing page in there that tells them "Blah and Blah.com needs more husky women" or whatever, and they will open the offer with the mindset that there is an active user base of what they are searching for. Bam, they sign up knowing there is a need.
