squeeze page and landing page ???

While the terms landing page and squeeze page are often used interchangeably, there is a distinct difference between what the words where meant to mean and how they are used in common usage.

A landing page is a webpage whose purpose is to get a visitor to complete an action. The term landing page was in use before the term squeeze page.

A squeeze page is a type of landing page, in that, it attempts to get a visitor to complete an action. However, what makes it a squeeze page is that the focus is on getting the visitor to submit their email address normally in exchange for something that will benefit the visitor (e.g. free report, graphics pack, newsletter, etc...).

Other types of landing pages focus on getting the visitor to complete a different action (purchase an item, download a file, donate to a charity, etc...). These pages are, in my opinion, not squeeze pages as they do not attempt to collect an email address. However, what defines a term is often common usage so today the term may be used differently. But initially the term squeeze page was meant to define a page that would squeeze the visitor for their email address.

Squeeze page is generally aimed at collecting the visitor's information by giving them some free stuffs.
Landing page is used to presell the offer.

Squeeze Page – A simple (typically 1 page) website with the goal of getting a user to enter their email address for list building.

Landing Page (LP) – A page used to help pitch the offer to the visitor. Found in between your advertisement and offer's affiliate link. A landing page is not required, but highly recommended. Commonly abbreviated as LP.

Depending on who you talk to, this can either mean the same thing or most people see a squeeze page as a page designed to collect email addresses and a landing page as a way to presell an offer.
