How to prevent AdWords click fraud

A friend of mine and me are getting into lead generation here in Germany at the moment and things have already worked out very fine for us. We used Google AdWords to direct paid traffic to our landing page, take their phone calls and then successfully sell those leads to businesses all across the country.

Now here's the problem: Our competitors don't really seem to appreciate our efforts. Somebody has started to excessively click our ads using proxy servers and a click bot or something like that, because the clicks come from different IPs every time. BUT they always come within a really short period of time and continue until our daily budget is consumed.

We did get back our money from Google every time until now, but they don't seem to have found a real solution thus far. And our problem is that it always takes some time until the money is refunded. And during that time we are basically paralyzed because our budget is still limited. Click prices are between 25 and 50 $ per click.

Has anyone dealt with this before? What can we do against this kind of click fraud?

Thanks, guys!

Keep track like you have and even mention to Google support who you think is doing it.

I'm sure they deal with that all the time and will be able you far better then anyone here can.

    Thanks for your reply!

So far they have not really been able to really stop this from happening, so we'd like to take our own measures (if possible) while we are still waiting for them to react.

I searched Google and found this article that I thought would be of great help to you. It goes in depth about exactly what click fraud is, how it is done, and most importantly, how to prevent it.

    Hope this helps!

You must track and exclude those IPs on daily basis

Web Analytics in Real Time | Clicky - This will help you in identifying the IPs and the below article will tell you how to exclude them.

Google algo is much more effective than it was few years ago. So, you should be getting refunds.

I face same problem in Germany with Facebook ads.

They clickbomb my ads. I am doing 5-10 millions clicks and 25-30% Bots. I hate it. On top, fb don't even refund me anything.

    Hey dude

Just sent you a PM - check your inbox! But yeah, we're dealing with click fraud all the time in my market. But the way we go about it is quite effective as we block IP's and make Google act much quicker in refunding our money. Also, we have set up post-pay with both Google and our Credit Card companies, giving us at least 1-2 months of credit before we need to deposit cash into our account so we never run out of funds for PPC despite the fraud that is going on. But blocking IP's has worked very well for us.

The problem with the solution posted above (using Clicky) is that IPs are changing all the time. You block one IP, there comes another. You block a whole block, there comes another one. And so forth.

Is there anybody who can help out?
