New to CPA - suggestions welcomed

Hi Folks, and thanks in advance for your replies and suggestions. Here it is in a nut shell:

We run a free webzine for music. It's a weekly webzine that offers free music downloads and artist interviews. We avg. around 10k hits per month and we're growing (we're less 3 months old).

Because it's free, we have no real revenue going on. Adsense is a joke (can't even buy coffee with what it brings), and converting the site to even a low monthly membership (we believe) will not work and will alienate our visitors. The only way we see to viably monetize the site is with CPA surveys, and to that end, we still have concerns.

Our biggest concern with CPA surveys is that is still involves a tedious "fill out the form" procedure that we believe will get tiring and old for our visitors on a constant basis. It also re-directs the visitor to an external site - thus leaving ours, even if momentarily. Although it may not render us the same amount of revenue as traditional CPA surveys, we would rather opt for a survey that not only resides within our site (visitors NOT re-directed, but survey remains over our page until completed), but also is less invasive regarding filling out forms. Perhaps a lower-level survey of simply answering questions or opinions, so that our visitors can get to our content faster and with less of a headache. I also found that most surveys run the gamut regarding their content, and little has to do with OUR content of music related topics.

I welcome your opinions on our thoughts above, which CPA program you feel may suit our needs the best, and any other suggestions for monetizing our free service would be great.

Thanks again!

Firstly I would be cautious in implementing content locked vids etc.

You say your site has around 10k hits per month and everything about it is free? If you suddenly put in these kind of offers etc do you think you may drive them away?

My guess is you are getting 10k hits per month because people like your site the way it is. Will they like it as much if they have to fill out **** to watch vids etc? Probably not. And once a user sees that your doing that, they may not come back.

Not all CPA offers are like that so you can choose to go down other ad routes. Let them decide to click on the offer rather than forcing them to do it.

    Just my 2 cents

Thank you!!! You are right up there with our thoughts! We definitely would not want to deter our visitors from our content in a manner that would seem like a pain if the a**. That being said, we need to find a way to monetize in order to merit the efforts of our work and time into the site. That's why we posted here, to see if there are other and better options, which of the vast number of programs would be a good fit for us, etc, etc. We're hoping that get that kind of info here.

Have you tried PPV ads? Not as invasive as content locking. Or combine both with on site cpa ad's (banners) music related with PPV.

      Thanks Jay!
Can you give me suggestions as to which network would be best for PPV methods? I'm not too familiar with that one.

Do you know of any network that offers a program that requires a user to first view a short ad video before being taken to the area in question within the site? I think this is also a non-invasive way to monetize the site without alienating our visitors.
