Facebook Ads - International CPA

So for the past few days I've been testing some international traffic to see how well they convert email submit offers.

Here are the details:

-I targeted a specific country that I felt would have no competition
-I found an iPhone 5 email submit that accepted traffic in that country and primary language.
-I had an ad translated to the primary language: "Win The New iPhone 5 Phone. Click Here Now To Win!"
-I targeted 13-NO MAX and both M/F genders w/ no other advanced options

I was hoping to collect initial data that would help give me an idea of who was most responding to the ad but facebook isn't providing me with the responder demographics.

I initially set up to pay .03 CPC and after I started receiving traffic to my ad I lowered it to .02 CPC after I realized I would make very little profit, especially if the email submit paid 0.60 per submit.

Here are results:

211,001 - Impressions
306 - Clicks
0 - Actions
0.145% - CTR
$7.36 - Spent
$0.03 - CPM

Network Results:

Overall, I spent $7.36 and earned $2.40, which gives me a loss of ($4.96).

I noticed a mismatch in the number of clicks from both the reports in facebook and affiliate network. A difference in 96 clicks lost between them.

What do you guys think would be the next best move? Change over to CPM? Any idea for the large amount of lost clicks? Any feedback?

If you improved your CTR you would get cheaper clicks but if your offer pays 0.60 then you will be hard pushed to ever make a profit promoting it directly on FB ads.

I have zip submits running profitably on FB but I am getting 0.01 clicks because I have a high CTR and my offers pay 1.50.

Keep working on that CTR and find higher paying offers...

Your CPC isn't going to get much lower. At your current CVR, you'd need to be getting clicks for about half a cent to break even, or you'll need to increase your CVR about 400%. This might be obtainable with some different ad copies, but I don't see it happening. Minimum offer payouts I deal with on Facebook are around $1+ or so. See if you can get a pay bump from the affiliate network.

If your click discrepancy is large, you might have a slow host. Run your ads through a VPS or better. If you are using any kind of cloaking in your tracker, turn it off, as that slows down redirects.

Here are some things to note: 13 - 17 year old traffic is generally crap quality. You'll quickly be scrubbed/booted off this offer because they don't have credit cards to fill in the incentive offers after the email submit.

I temporarily paused the campaign, emailed the affiliate network about a pay bump and click discrepancy, then I'll edit the demographics on the ad campaign.

How did you get around the Facebook policy to do an ad with the iPhone?

I got denied three times before finally getting approved. I registered a domain related to the offer, used a script to frame the offer within the page and edited the ad copy to include they would need to enter their emails to be eligible.

Correction: Loss came out to $3.76 after I factored in two leads that came in after I paused the campaign.

      Perfect.

Also, I think email submits may be not the best way to get started with FB, since they have low payout, high scrub rate and FB doesn't really like them. Lead gen offers in the gaming, dating and mobile niches may be a better choice.
