I don't understand the difference between Google's Search-based Keyword Tool and the Keyword Tool currently in AdWords. Which one should I use with clickbump's method?

So I here are stats for the keyword I chose:

Exact Local Searches: 5400
Spyfu: 12 advertisers, avg CPC $0.66 ( a bit low, I know)
Top 10: 2 sites with PR- and 1 with PR0
Number of links to those pages 0-1

.net .org were available so I bought both Now the question is what to do with 2 domains? Use same template just write 2 different content pages? Or make 1 static site and 1 wordpress blog?

Also a question to Clickbump.
I have 100 unused domains. Can I use your Super Fast CSS Xfactor Template assuming that each of the blogs will have 50 pages and all of links to them I want in nav bar. I mean is it gonna look good? Is this template customizable?

I would never put 50 links in a nav bar or menu unless its on a sitemap listing. For example, all of the templates in my theme allow the site owner to specify which posts appear on the top menu and also allows them to list a subset of top posts on multiple sidebar link lists. I recommend no more than 4-6 menu options on the top menu and I also allow the site owner to move all menus to the sidebar (in groups of 5 max with "View All" links). This helps keep the focus on the heat map area that includes the product images, ads and supporting soft sell copy...

The key is that each of these sidebar link menus has a "View All" link that allows you to aggregate all your links to a sitemap and not be required to list them all in a linklist. Otherwise, you are sure to lose the viewer in a sea of options, none of which they are likely to choose.

The reason I''m asking is because some of my sites won't be product oriented. I want to create a sites about different services and then have 50 pages "service in alaska", "service in alabama" on so on. How would you recommend using your template?

Just wondering what people without the standard template are using for their page titles.

For instance my homepage will show up as

My Kewyord Phrase - My Keyword Phrase

Other internal pages are

My Keyword Phrase - 2nd Keyword Phrase

IS this what other people are doing? just looks a little spammy to me on the home page to have the phrase repeated twice without any other words.

Hi Elevated, I use wordpress, but in relation to your question on page titles, it applies regardless of the publishing platform: I only use the post title for the page's <title> tag.

So, if my site is about "blue yoga mats" then my home page title is going to be "Blue Yoga Mats". And in the same site, if I have a longtail keyword page for "Blue Yoga Mat Accessories", then my page title for that page is going to be "Blue Yoga Mat Accessories".

Would this mean then that someone searches in Google for e.g Blue Yoga Mats and they would see your site with the heading as simply Blue Yoga Mats with the description underneath?

Great thread many thanks. I have actually read through the whole lot as preparation for xfactor type sites. I really like your simplified approach as I did not fancy all that article marketing myself (not in a lazy way though).

I have one quick question which I hope has not been covered as I have seen a lot of questions on here been repeated even though they been answered and I know that can be annnoying, so here goes.

In simple terms do you "Set & Forget" your sites. I have gotten into the habit of spreading the building of one site over a week or 2 as I have the idea in my head that G likes fresh content drip fed. If S&F works for you then this is a great option to try as I can knock up WP sites pretty fast.

The question is, will Google see this as duplicate content and punish me in any way for using that same template each time?

The short answer is "no".

One caveat though. Make sure that you use a commonly used privacy policy statement in order to avoid footprinting your niches. In other words, if another adsense publisher happens upon your site and lifts a phrase from your privacy policy (or any content for that matter), then inputs it in a search engine, are they likely to only see your sites? If so, you need to randomize your content.

I don't get traffic from linkwheel or forum sigs (not that there's anything wrong with that, its just not my method).

Forum sigs, in my method, are used solely for quickly indexing the site to get it on the search engine.

My best advice is to move on to another niche. In my experience, I have not had success with dashes in the domain for *these types* of sites.

Sorry, I did not explain. My situation is different from yours - my niche is my consulting field.

I like the idea of keyword-based domains to collect leads and make sales. So I wouldn't be using this for adsense revenue - I'd say 90% leads and 10% sales.

The keywords I have in mind for this show a desire to purchase services/products in my niche. So I think this method could be effective for me.

But if the keyword-phrase.com format is not as SEO friendly, I might want to rethink.

It is all interior Amazon and Nextag type results. I just launched the .com today & my plan is to use Web 2.0 properties on the other 9. The .net & .org are available. Should I buy them & set them up as well? And if they are all using the same wordpress theme will that hurt?

I have never had the opportunity to try to leverage the WHOLE 1st page of Google & wonder what kind of adsense EPN & Amazon income I can expect from a single phrase with 1000 monthly searches and $4 ad cost?

There are methods out there, through which you can beat the parked domains. The domains are not dangerous as they are not competitors. You should go with your desired keywords with a little variation or placing a number at the end such as keywordphrase1.org and it is going to work if you work a little on SEO.

Clickbump/Tom - do either of you have a good resource on how a complete newbie can get started with digg? I see a lot of talk about it but no "rules to the game" or a method similiar to this thread. Also, my sites are html and do not use rss. Any info is highly appreciated. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge here. It has helped me a great deal.

Hi Dave, perhaps Tom can chime in with his take on Digg, but I don't use it anymore because the links are no-follow now (at least in my experience). My indexing method is discussed earlier in this thread (search "sneaky punctuation trick").

I bought 5 domains and set them up on my hostgator account, and I was planning on adding the content to the sites in a couple of days. Before I was able to add the content and setup the pages, my sites were indexed with nothing on it. They were indexed just with the cgi.bin folder.

So, now that I have content, what is the best way for my site to get re-indexed or up to date with the content I actually added?

Winners, as you call them, probably spend a TON of time finding keywords.

You do need to change how you view this. Being negative won't help. If after doing research for a bit of time you feel you start slipping into negativity land, then go do something else and come back later. How much time do you have into keyword research and do you have good tools?


Reread your post. With your belief system it will not be easy for good things to happen.

That is your first job. Become more positive.

You can't "turn it off" per say. What you can do is to work around it by clicking the little tiny "100" link that's the next to last link under the Google search box (see attached).

When you do this you are presented with the top 100 (as opposed to just the top 10) results and for some reason, google does not use personalized search for this query.

I feel you. I've been there. You are going to have to adopt a different mindset and temperament than you are expressing. Otherwise, this is just not for you and you are going to be miserable trying. This game is all about the challenge of overcoming exactly what you are experiencing. This is the norm. That's why its so much fun for those of us who thrive on it.

You will face roadblocks and seemingly impenetrable walls constantly, we all do. Sometimes you just need to step back and stop looking for niches and start looking for inspiration. Once you have that, the niches will find you, not the other way around.

I can vouch for this method too (not that anyone needs me to ) - I too stumbled upon it by complete accident but was very careful with my niche research..almost too careful to ensure that I ranked for real no-brainer keywords with next to no competition.

The method I was following actually recommended I promote these mini sites real hard but I wanted to make a few before I did that. To my surprise, 2 out of 4 blogs I've made so far are on the 1st page of Google. One product site is ranking above the manufacturer sitting at #7. No backlinks

The biggest success story for me has been a blog in the mortgage niche! I was just reading days ago on here about how hard it is to rank in this niche. My keyword has around 500'000 results without quotes (I did do other research like allintitle etc) and I'm sitting at 4th on page 1 of Google! ZERO BACKLINKS!

So keep plugging away guys..this works and works well

Nope.

He looks at the top 100 to hopefully get out of the personalized search and looks at the top 10 of those to see if the competition is too high or not.
