Hi what im going to provide you is a blueprint of how to successfully identify rankable keywords, using little effort. Which rank quite well them using a article submission service like AMA, UAW or SEOLinkvine. While these services work in the background i spend more time on market research, finding new and profitable keywords.

I use a combination of Market Samurai + Keyword Elite + Backlink Analysis to determine how competitive are the top 10. Here are the factors i take into consideration:

Market Samurai
All these numbers are averages of keywords i have successfully ranked for (using a single article submission via uaw, awa)

So here's what i do to determine if i can rank for a particular keyword:

Using Market Samurai, the keyword must be less then:
PBR %: 64%
SEOC: 50,000
SEOLC: 262,000
SEOTC: 25,000
SEOLTC: 20995
SEOTCR %: 158%

Market Samurai Matrix ExamplesThese are MS martix of keywords i have ranked for with little effort.

Keyword Elite
The total averages in search engine dominator, less then:
Competition Strength: Should be green
PR: 3.5
Page Backlinks: 120
Title: 0.3

Again you can increase these averages, by increasing the amount and quality of backlinks.
Above is a guide for someone, who wants to find and target a keyword which should get ranked quite easily within a couple days or week. Also these keywords (under the above seo criteria) normally rank instantly, simply by purchasing the exact keyword domain. If you find a keyword under the above competition criteria, with ALOT of search volume, and good monetization potential (visit my blog which shows you how i determine this) then you have found a golden nugget!

The information i have provided above will give you something to compare metrics with once you find a keyword (especially if your new)

pretty much came up with the same numbers (for MS), but this doesnt mean not to go for "more difficult" numbers. You CAN rank even way harder niches, eg. with 100k+ competitors...often its just a matter of time/consistency building links. And of course how strong the current #10 in google are.

By the way i see you are a headway fan....do you think its much better than thesis?

Yeah this is just a guide for someone who wants to instantly identify rankable keywords, if you find a keyword with 500,000 competition strength, but all the other seo factors both on-page and off-page are quite low, then go for it.

Headway is great, i never really used thesis. Headway is great because you can drag content, leafs around without any programming. It has saved me alot of time aswell, which is why i think its worth every penny.

Not 100% sure with free version, type in a new keyword, then keyword research, add the keyword on the right, then click analyze keywords down the bottom

You can use your free trial of Market Samurai to analyze competition. But once your free trial is up then you get keyword research free for always, but not the competition analysis.

I realise that you know this Georg, I just wanted to make it clear for other people reading this thread who might not know so much about it.

The backlink analysis of Market Samurai is really good, it's all in the same matrix.

If you base your keyword research solely on metric data provided in MS then your success rate will be very hit and miss. There are a lot more factors involved deciding whether or not you rank.
