How do I block "Groupon" ads from my website?

I have a site that is a good Adsense earner.

This week, instead of the usual large block containing 4 different ads, one large Groupon ad started appearing and it has remained on the page day and night.

The single, large Groupon ad is not appropriate for my site and thus my clicks have literally gone to zero on this page.

I am fairly new at Adsense, but I think I can block Groupon ads from showing on this site.

Would someone please direct me to the appropriate instructions, etc?

Thanks for the help!

Login to your Adsense account and then click on "adsense setup". In the sub-menu there you should see "competitive ad filter".

Add the address of the groupon website there. It takes a while to work.

You could block images for a while, if it is an image.

You can filter individual sites. Go to adsense setup>competitive ad filter
(it's a text link below the tabs in the menu)
then type the website domain. Is it groupon.com? Just type groupon.com
That will block anything and everything from groupon.com

There are companies that buy ads across the board. Money talks.

You could just be patient and eventually it will probably disappear.

    Did you tweak any content?

Google may show ads based on personal interest. If you visited sites
or searched for groupon type stuff, it may just be showing for you.

I think you can turn off showing personal interest ads, but can't
remember where. Just peruse the adsense setup.

Thanks for your generous offer, but I think I'll pass for now.

I don't want the site to make too much money and cause me to move into a higher tax bracket.

Haha! That made me laugh so hard I almost fell out of my chair. I love your sense of humor, it's what I needed after a long morning. Props to your methods - most people would have said something like "No way, I'm not going to risk my Adsense account or let anyone trod on my market," but you gave it the Saturday Night Live treatment.

As far as the Groupon ads, I've been noticing them, too. I haven't blocked them yet, though I need to (it's just that Adsense isn't anywhere close to my big earner, so I'm not quick on the draw). What I have done, though, is set my account to not show ads based on the user's browsing history. I think I did that in the account settings... ??? Poke around and you'll find it.

        ... I'm still laughing...

Okay, I stopped being lazy and actually went through my account, hopefully this helps:

    1. Log into your Adsense account (duh!)
    2. Click on "My Account"
    3. Scroll down to "Internet Based Ad Preference" - turn that off
    4. Smile

    Hope that helps.

My Adsense earnings dropped WAY down to almost nothing this last week too.. I did some checking and my site is full of Groupon.com ads.

I went in and blocked them too, thanks for suggestion!

How long ago did the Interest-based Ads Preference start in Adsense?

I've also noticed a change in earnings that started earlier this year. I didn't realize that setting was in there or that they were doing that throughout the content network. I thought it was just for actual Google search engine queries.

I've been earning from Adsense consistently since 2006 and I don't remember anything about that. Maybe I'm just slacking, lol.
