Hi,

For those passionate about Page Rank, Google today celebrates one year since has not updated its Page Rank.

Is it possible that from this evening to have a major update on everyone or do you think we will wait?

Who knows and you really shouldnt care too much about PR. I understand its nice to get an indicator that your site has improved in Googles eyes but meh money talks.

The only thing you should ask yourself is if your profits have increased since 1 year ago?

Your site could show a PR 10 in the next update, but if you're not making money, it really doesnt matter.

Indeed, Google has made a rank update in January 2011 but only until 10 June 2010.

Google changed the algorithm and are updated with a delay of one year. For example, if a site on the net today barely climb over a year will see the Page Rank on it, no matter how many updates will Google do in this period.

This measure was taken primarily to "kill" those who sell and buy links and secondly to have available a year to develop a quality site without knowing where you are if you understand what I mean.

yeah, and it affects big names as well. Last summer Glenn Beck started a very successful website called "The Blaze" and it sits at PR0. A website like this, should be at around PR6 by now. They have an alexa rating of 2k

The same company just started a new streaming video site days ago and it has a PR2 already. This one I can't figure out unless they purchased the domain.

My latest batch of sites for the last 6 months are all PR0. I personally like the little green bar. I think google is taking it away from us

Google without Page Rank is like Tom without Jerry.

I'm sure that will not give the page rank, on the contrary, its value will weigh heavily now on. That's the idea, will tell us that the PR is not so important to focus more on content.

Think what chaos would be if there an indicator to classify sites.

Regardless of a toolbar update PR still changes on individual sites constantly.

I've had plenty of domains with fluctuating PR, as per usual, over the last few months.

Are you basing it on the date of the page? Because I checked a page that was created late January of this year and it has a published PR.

1. access this link: News June 2010 : Nature

2. Go to articles published on 10, 9, 8, 7, June, etc. and you will see that these have page rank

3. Go to articles published on 11, 12, June, July, August...etc and you will see that these don't have page rank

If you are skeptical check the archive for more sites and then come and tell me what conclusion you come

You shouldn't be concerned. That's normal. Add quality content to your website and start working on backlinks and you will slowly climb up the PR ladder. But like others have said, it's not as important as traffic.

Page rank is just a waste of time.... when I was young and foolish I too thought that PR was important until I noticed all my PR0 sites were bringing in money....now that I'm older and wiser I notice my sites are all still PR0 and are still bringing in money....

I think your obsession with PR is like your first statement "TODAY - 1 year since Google did not update Page Rank"......totally wrong

PR is just the symbol that represents the quality of backlinks attached to your site. So, PR actually matters when someone is looking for some business with your site. If you have a blog and someone wants a post on it then the price will be fairly identified with the PR and Alexa. SO, PR matters.

PR was really important a few years ago, but nowadays it doesn't really mean a lot anymore. You could have a high PR, but if your site isn't optimized very well and if you don't have any good backlinks, your pages won't rank, you won't get much traffic and you won't make much money.

On the other hand, it's true - high PR has some good perceived value. It's easier to sell a PR6 site than a PR2 - sometimes even if the PR2 site would make more money.

Not June 2010 but April 2010. And this year, the last update was on January 2011 (which is correct). Most of my website PRs decreased. Some from PR 3 became PR 1 and there are also sites that sunk down to 0. Odd right? But the strangest thing happen just this month. My PR 0 website suddenly got a PR 3

I'd give up my entire business for a PR10 site.

You see, it is true that PR doesn't matter, because PR does not equal keyword authority. However, once pages on your website have PR, you can create anchored links to other pages on your website and create the authority internally, even if it didn't exist externally.

For this reason, a PR10 would index you under any keyword term imaginable, from buy viagra to life insurance, to credit cards, simply by creating sub-pages on the domain and linking out to them from the PR10 page. For that reason, I'd give up anything for a completely unauthoritative, non-targeted, PR10 domain.

To put it succinctly, the whole "PR does not matter" movement is taken a little bit too far. It does matter still. A lot.

Pagerank is also kind of handy for assessing the authority of the sites on page one you plan to go up against, but even there it DEFINITELY should not be taken as more than a fairly minor factor. Once again, it's worth repeating, PR has NOTHING to do with a page's ranking for a particular keyword, it is about the rating passed on from other pages. My offline company site has a PR4 homepage but sucks as regards its targetted keywords because I had been lazy about SEO (that's going to change!). So the PR0 on page one can safely say "we outrank a PR4", but it's meaningless.

Just thought that was worth mentioning again.

Well as far I know the major page rank update was in April 1,2010 and next in January 2011 and update on June,2010 was minor update that Google do every month.However having page rank is worth to have but not that much since your focus is ranking for keywords.

Google's own browser (chrome) offers a pagerank plugin for their browser (called pagerank status), so they must still be using it. None of my sites have moved up or down in the last year.

None of my sites have moved up or down in the last year.
