What is the best method for backlink building, in your personal opinions? I have a website in my niche connected to google webmasters, so obviously i wanna keep it whitehat for the most part. Using only onsite seo i have managed to score page 2 in rankings. However i am trying to beat the competition up to page one. any suggestions?

thanks

First of all, you should post this kind of topic to the right place.

Anyway, there are strategies that will help you generate natural links... NOT links that you have created yourself such as blog commenting, forum posting, and among others..

These are strategies such as viral linkbait, widgets etc...

Getting content to go viral on social media sites such as digg, stumbleupon, and among others can generate a lot of links, NATURALLY.

    Hope that helps..,

Diversify your links, don't go for just cheap blog comments, forum profiles etc.

Its not always about quantity, but quality.

I agree with this. Quality links are the most important ones.

When building backlinks, it's important to search for sites with a high PR (preferably 5 or greater) that allow dofollow backlinks. Also, it is best to use your targeted keywords as anchor text.

I'd have to go with whitehat SEO. Build organic links with superior quality and don't settle for petty links. Invest time in articles that people would, by themselves, share and read. I know you're aware of this overly used SEO cliche but blackhat methods can drag you down and bury all your previous link-building efforts.

Throw a link to your site in your forum signatures. Write articles and link them to your site. You can use linkbuilding services as well.

I love the wide diversity of backlinks that you offer. However, I'd like to build up the backlinks consistently over time like say 500/day of diverse backlink types rather than one big blast of a single package. I'm interested in all of the packages you offer but want them to be spread out over a period of time that I will pay you monthly for. Would you offer this kind of monthly service?

    Thanks,

    Melissa

It's pretty simple really. Get a wide variety of backlinks from various sources and then make sure you get them indexed. I use an indexing service to do this. If they are not indexed, they dont count.

Okay...a related question, sort of. I'm working on a contact lens website that wants to rank well for a myriad of phrases (30 to 50 phrases) ranging from the specific brands they offer to the specific color contact options that are available. With so many phrases to target, am I best served building links predominately to the homepage that would trickle the link juice down to the subpages, rather than trying to build backlinks for each target page? I know ideally it's best to have the backlink directed to your target page, but with so many phrases I'm trying to rank for, I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off building a lot of good links to the homepage, or far fewer backlinks pointing at the specific pages. I hope this made sense the way I explained it. I look forward to any and all feedback.

  • It's also good to get a wide variety of backlinks from different sources (if related to your niche-that's even better-but not necessary).

The best method to build backlinks is to just start. Without that first step your competitors will keep ranking above you. Build consitient quality backlinks and persistence will pay off.

As always, you'll want to diversify your backlinks.

Google is LOVIN sites that have links from a range of sources, because 1)It looks natural and 2)It makes your site look very popular.

So try and get backlinks from forum profile (don't chuck low quality ones to your money site, only tier 2 backlinks) blog comments, edu links, high PR links.

You do this consistently there is no way Google won't take notice and move you up the rankings!

    I agree with magiclouie...
Creating various types of link bait is by far your best return as they keep on giving once they have been developed. Wordpress and other types of Themes, WP plugins, games, articles, ebooks, videos, awards, tools, widgets, etc... are all various forms of link bait that you can develop and then give away. Of course everything is tagged with your URL.
