Directory Theme for Wordpress site, can anyone tell me a good one?

Would anyone have a complete set of 'incircle' wordpress theme. I have downloaded the theme from 3 different sites but each one seems to be missing the template file, which is preventing me from being able to activate the theme.

In the read me file, I found an email address of the coder for the theme and I emailed him but I have not received any reply. I have also contacted the site iguides.org asking them if they can provide me with a complete set of files for this theme.

I wonder if someone was to download it and try to activate it in their wordpress site to see if they have the same problem. Maybe it is something that is happening at my end???

I have converted a directory site that had stopped allowing people to add their website to it, to a wordpress site and I was wanting to use the 'incircle' theme because it is a directory theme but each download seems to be missing a template that will allow it to be activated.

The alternative for me would be if anyone knows of another theme that is a directory theme for my wordpress site?

This won't work on a straight Wordpress installation because it is a PHPLD template, not a Wordpress theme. These aren't going to work at all on Wordpress unless you majorly hack them up. As far as a good "directory theme" for Wordpress... I haven't found one yet. I was looking a while back for a site of mine and couldn't find a great solution. I ended up matching up PHPLD with Wordpress so they looked pretty seamless, but they were both installed in different directories on my site.

Thanks for coming to my rescue

I am disappointed to hear that the theme isn't a wordpress theme. I converted this site over because I thought I had a theme to use. My domain name is mylink2dotcom and it was starting to receive really good traffic but then it went and broke itself and I couldn't afford to fix it, so now I have traffic going to a site that can't accept listings

I am a complete tech newb and I can't fix these things or do what you said you did so I guess I will just have to try and make the best of the domain name and keep looking and hoping that someone codes a wordpress directory theme

Is DirectoryPress brand new? I have not heard of it until now. I had an upcoming project I was planning on doing in Joomla that I think, thanks to DirectoryPress I will be able to do in Wordpress instead.

Unfortunately Directory Press is no more a free theme. You have to buy the download now

You can still download a free version. On the right hand side of the homepage you will see a box that says to enter your name and email and once you confirm your email you receive the link to the download page. The paid versions are for the VIP which can be used on three websites and the developer license.

Directorypress is pretty nice. I just created directory yesterday. It has a lot of nice options (GD Star etc.).

The big thing is that you can still use all your Wordpress plugins to cut down on spam and automated submissions. Between WP Captcha Free and Bad Behavior I doubt I will get any automated spam submissions.

You should also consider making an article directory theme as well.

DirectoryPress is awesome. If you're looking for some other options and are willing to consider non-WordPress scripts, take a look at Directory Script Reviews.

I have Marks Paid version and it's very well done. Has pretty much every feature I have looked for in a directory script.

Just a side note for people looking at themes on theme forest, you'll
need a php coder close by. Every theme I bought there had coding issues.

Great themes, great prices but make sure you have a php guy around.

I think Mark Fail's Directory Press is quite effective. I am going to invest in his Coupon Press in the near future.

I recently sold a website that used Classipress for a Directory Style website. It is an excellent and professional looking theme with lots of options. It took a fair a bit of customization to change it from a classifieds site to a directory site, however.

I think Directory Press would be quicker to set up 'as is' out of the box, as it is already formatted for directory type listings.

I have a question for Mark or anyone else... Can I setup a directory site without the 'add my business' feature? I have a closed networking group that I want to setup a directory site for. I want to add each company but not allow any other business to enter unless they are a member of the group. I also want this to be viewable to the public and found in the search engines.

Not sure if this theme is right for that. Let me know what you think.

I have 3 drop down menus.

1. needs to be populated by the directory categories.
2. Select State
3. Select City

Field 1 is independent. When a category is selected it should autoloads all listings.
Field 2 determines field 3's data. After field 3 is selected the site autoloads all listings for the city selected.

The cities would need to be added as items are added to the directory by use of a city field.

I supposed this is really 3 main questions:

1. Can a city field be added to the directory listing?
2. Can the directory listings be organized by city/state?
3. Could the loop that displays the categories on the homepage be modified to display the categories (or state/city selection) as a drop down?

Can DirectoryPress be used for article directories as well? For example, I would like to set up a web site directory and an article directory on the same domain, but on different subdomains or directories. I would like to use the same theme for both so that they would have the same look and feel for the users.

Hi Mark.
I want to build a directory that not only lists subscribers, but gives them the ability to self build their own websites as extensions of the main directory likeGoDaddy and NetSol does. You know, you buy a domain and build a simple site. I want to offer subscribers to my directory that type of service. I'm thinking a 1 to 3 page WordPress type website would be sufficient and have it set up so that even a novice like myself would be able to doit. If they wanted anymore pages or if they wanted more functionality than they would of course have to pay for this. Otherwise, the 1 to 3 page website would be included in the subscription price they pay me.

After receiving quotes for a custom WP site, i directed them to your DirectoryPress (Big Hit by the way; they were excited to see this). After directing them to your product i told them it has everything I need and asked if they could customize the face(Add pics, etc.) of it which they said they could do. I then asked them if they add the functionality of allowing subscribrs to build their own mini-sites and having it automatically attach to the main site as an extansion. They said that it is an expensive proposition to automate such a function. That is why I'm writing to you Mark (and ayone else who might be able to answer this for me) .


Have you encountered this sort of request before? And even if you haven't, can you suggest a solution that will enable me to accomplish this as inexpensively as possible? If there isn't or if it s going to be crazy expensive then is there another way to accomplish this, like building and adding the mini-sites manually on a case-by-case basis? Thanks, Mark! - Brian
