I don't know if I saw and read it here already but I am just curious and seriously would like to know is SQUIDOO links are still a DO Follow or No follow.

Any comments is really appreciated.

Thanks
Oling

I just poked around there again. It is definitely a mix:

        - links within Squidoo are dofollow, as traceye said above

        - links from standard modules to Amazon are nofollow
        - links from standard modules to Flikr are nofollow
        - links from standard modules to Ebay are nofollow
        - links from standard modules to Youtube are nofollow
These are all the normal internal monetization modules in Squidoo

        - links within the first few normal text blocks are dofollow - so you CAN link to your own site (either with a graphic or a text link)
        - links within the list module (that thing where you make a list, people vote on which should be #1, #2 etc.) are dofollow, if you make a list of urls

I am sure the Squidoo mavens here on WF will know more about how to ensure that your links are dofollow as opposed to nofollow. Basically though, it is a mix, but links to your site CAN be dofollow if you put them in the right places. Since you don't really want Amazon, Ebay, Youtube etc. to get any more link juice from your lens, I think it is ok they are now nofollow by default...

        Best Regards, Georgetta

thanks to all of you guys, I do really appreciate it.

When you mentioned links within Squidoo, I take it to mean the links that I put on the article content, right?

    Thanks Again,

yes, if you put links inside your article body on squidoo, they will be followed.

an easy way to tell if a link is "no follow" or not on any site is to download the seobook.com toolbar.

The links in the text modules are do follow so it's still a great way to get links to your site.

I want to thank Georgetta for your wonderful description. That is the most specific break down I have seen for the dofollow and nofollow links on squidoo it is truly a great help.

Yeah, what brandon said, don't worry too much about 'no follow' , as they still count in other SEs..

    Nice post Georgetta!

What matters more is traffic from Squidoo, followed by Link Juice...

Do Follow is great but No Follow is good too :-)

With squidoo, all you need to do is create a minimum of 3 modules within a lense. This will automatically take it out of WIP mode which will make all the links to your own sites dofollow.

So for example, if you have created an article, you can break it into 3 modules. Give each one a sub heading and post your 3 modules. When you click to view all your lenses via your dashboard you will see small green ticks. This means they are no longer in wip mode and that your links will pass PR to your own pages.

Hi, thanks for the post, will try to see if it works. But I think the WIP mode is more about if they receive any traffic. Anyway, will try to see if the trick works.

Yes, if the lens has a green tick next to its lensrank then the links will be dofollow. If otherwise, its a line instead of a tick then the lens is in WIP status and the links will be nofollow.

I have also heard that they are do follow, but I have made a few lenses promoting sites weeks ago, and without fail none of them seem to be indexed, even after I have submitted them.

      Anyone else have this issue?

I have searched the viewsource of many squidoo lenses and I have yet to find a follow in my view source search. All I seem to find is nofollow. Can someone show me where in the viewsource does it show any links as being follow. Can you please link us to an example?

I have explained in my post above how you can make them dofollow. Also, it is easy to get any page on the net indexed within hours.

Thanks Andy, your right. I guess i just got pessimistic before i read all the way through lol.
At the end of this month im gonna learn how to create these lenses and also hubpages. Ezinearticles.com has also been working good for me. Maybe if i also place a link to those articles to my squidoo lense that would also bring extra traffic)

        Thanks guys

Well, squidoo is a great source of quality links It can also deliver good amount of traffic to your main site if done properly. Well, good thing about it is that it also gives link juice to sub-pages. And yes, it has do follow attribute!

I have the same question as I have basically no traffic to my lense AND it don't even see it in Google. I have submitted the URL to google but I can't find it.

There is some variation now as far as what is do follow and what is no follow. It is something such as respected lenses that have been around for awhile and are taken serious or are "featured" turn into do follow. Quickly made low quality squido pages remain no follow until the previous is done/achieved.

As far as I know, links in your text modules are "do follow".....and you can get good traffic and links from a decent lens....

Thanks for a great post, the most comprehensive I have yet seen explaining what is and isnt no-follow on Squidoo.

I think people also tend to underestimate the power of the actual human visitors you get from your squidoos, not just the SEO PR7 link back to your site (which is sweet!) but also the free organic traffic.

Don't worry about no follow and do follow links, just create good content that people will gladly pass around. Viral marketing is very powerful and the best way to get links.

I got several backlinks from flickr.com, Yahoo Answers and others that shows up in my webmaster tool. Google still count your links if they are no-follow but do not transfer the PageRank Power to your site.
