Microsoft implements Copilot on Microsoft 365 users. Google follows suit.

If you happen to be a Microsoft 365 subscriber, you might have noticed that Outlook Web Access now has Copilot. Likewise for Google (I'm a GSuite user), there's an Ask Gemini icon on the top right section of my screen.

When composing an email on Gmail, you get a "Help me write" thingaboo.

Chime in.

  • My Microsoft 365 subscription just went up because of this. I'm just starting to figure out AI, so I'm playing with it in Word and other MS products to see what it can do. I think you only get 60 credits a month, but I'm not sure yet what a credit entails. And, apparently, the pro version of Copilot is still the upgrade.

I read there is a workaround to go back to Copilot less Office, but I'm not sure if I'm going to try that yet or if the AI is worth it.

Hi Mark. I received an email regarding this earlier in the month, if I recall correctly. The workaround (so to speak) involved logging into my account and specifically opting for the non-Copilot version whose price remained the same. I then noticed something like a 15% discount for a one year prepayment, so that's what I opted for. I came very close to cancelling because I wasn't using Word as much as I have in the past and thought LibreOffice for macOS might be a suitable alternative [for a variety of reasons, it wasn't, at least not for me]. But then I noticed the 1TB of included storage on OneDrive as part of the 365 subscription. There's a OneDrive app for the iPhone that automatically backs up photos/videos to OneDrive in addition to whatever other offline/iCloud backup systems might be in place. Anyway, just mentioning this openly because I suspect many of us may be 365 subscribers. I'm ultimately happy with the decision to stick with the 365 subscription because I subsequently found myself having to use Word/Excel a lot more. ^Stephen

Yes noticed that. How does that work? Is it similar to Gemini?

How's your experience with the quality of the writing gemini vs. copilot? Both comparable?

Yeah, AI is getting more integrated into our work tools! Copilot in Outlook and "Help me write" in Gmail can really save time, especially for routine emails. Have you tried them in action yet? What do you think?

Interesting how Microsoft is monetizing Copilot! I've tried it in Word too--sometimes it's really helpful, sometimes it needs some tweaking. Not entirely sure about the credits either, but it seems like a limit on queries. If you find that workaround, I'd love to hear if it actually works

Looks like Microsoft rolled out Copilot for Microsoft 365 users pretty big move. Now Google's jumping in too. AI is quickly becoming the new standard in everyday tools.
