Use the product yourself, find out its features and turn them into benefits, then write an emotionally charged letter as though you are writing to a friend to prove to them that they need the product.

Try printing out a really good sales letter and then hand copying it out onto paper. This will get you into the right mindset for writing your own sales letter.

You will notice that most sales letters go through a similar pattern. Usually problem, reaction, solution.

There are some other elements that are important such as guarantees, testimonials, and bonuses.

The longer the guarantee period the better. 90 days works very well. The longer it is the less likely people are to ask for a refund funnily enough.

With testimonials you can send copies to friends and ask them to write testimonials at first until you get some in from your paid customers. You must make sure they are all genuine as faking them is a criminal offence.

Bonuses can help to clinch the deal. Look for something of low cost to you with a high percieved value. In some cases people will buy the main product just because they want the bonus gift if you find the right product.

You can find potential bonus product by search for "master resale rights products" or "private label rights products". Look for the ones that allow you to give the product away as a free bonus.

Can a relatively poor English writer become a copywriter?

Hmm. Make them realized why they need your product. Of course, you yourself should already have tried your product as well.

Then, while writing your sales conversion letter, you have to answer simple questions that would definitely get into their minds - what is is, why do they need such product, what are the advantages of it to them, how to get it, when will it be available, etc. Just like that.

Hey magicmoola,

You want to write copy that converts quickly? Hire a copywriter.

Do you want to learn yourself? Buckle yourself in and be willing to invest time, money and resources for a long time. You are NOT going to learn how to write copy from a single thread. It just won't happen.

^First, learn the difference between a guarantee and a satisfaction conviction. One will do okay, the other will do phenomenal.

“But, Eric. . . Aren’t those just different ways of expressing the same thing?”

They sure are. It’s just one makes you money. That's the point.

Not to say there isn't good info in that post, but you NEED the details. You need to understand the inner workings of copy and analyze them religiously so that you know exactly what you're doing and not just a brief how to do it.

Yup, and in basketball, all you have to do is put a ball in a hoop.

Look out, NBA!

Look, there are plenty of threads here about people asking how to become a copywriter and how to get good. In the short time I’ve been on WF, I can’t believe the frequency at which they pop up. Peruse the forum, take some of that advice, and go start your way to a career as a copywriter.

Otherwise, hire one.

Good luck!

When you find a sales letter that captures your attention and triggers your buying impulse, you can learn their secrets by copying the sales letter word for word.

I'm not saying to steal their copy. What I'm saying is that you can subconsciously pick up some tips by copying the sales letter with pen and paper - word for word.

As you write each word, you will begin to better understand how the copywriter uses words to invoke emotions that put the reader into a receptive state.

To be really effective, you must do this each time you run across a compelling sales letter. Your mind will be trained through repetition. Simply reading a book on copywriting will give you some tips, but going through this process will help to train your brain.

One of the most important things that will 'trigger' you to engage with the sales letter is the headline. So, make sure you spend plenty of time on it to make sure it's engaging. Try to ask yourself if it has any of the four Us - is it useful, is it unique, does it create an urgency and is it ultra-specific.

Obviously, I could go on for pages, but second to make the headline as strong as possible, I'd also advise that you go through the pack and ask 'so what?' of every sentence. If you get to three sentences and you haven't been able to answer that question, you need to take another look at what you've written.

Hope that helps.

Track down some excellent offline and online sales letters that have proven results.

Study them clinically. What makes these sales letters tick?

Model these sales letters and you are on your way to writing some good copy.

Of course, you should understand the basics of copywriting from some good copywriting books. See the permanent thread at the top of this section of the warrior forum for a list of good books to read.

I don't start writing any copy without reviewing a massive binder of Halbert sales letters and ads. He always gets my copywriting juices flowing for some good copy. I also study some excellent Yanik Silver and Joe Vitale sales letters.

Best,
