Shut up...get going...

Everyone's looking for a shortcut...

I read a post yesterday where the OP had said he knocked on doors for 2 months or so and had 2 sales...this was after he read a post some marketer had wrote on how easy it was to fall out of bed at noon...walk into any business and walk out with a check.

Welcome to reality.

WSO's promise big money...thousands in only weeks with their plan.

In case you haven't figured it out yet...the authors of these big promises are making their cash off of promising you a big idea.

Frankly, I'm tired of false promises.

Frankly, I'm tired of a lot of things...

I'm tired of people who want to get in shape from a 4 minute a day workout -- I'm tired of people wanting to lose weight with a little pill -- I'm tired of copywriters wanting to get successful with "just one more" course.

Let's make a deal...I'm not gonna tell you something that I've never heard of working.

I know people who've made some cash with these plans...you can too.

It takes a little bit of work...but maybe it's time you get off your a** and get down to some serious business.

Take a look at the ads in your local paper. If they're not direct response ads then they're not pulling in the kind of cash they could be.

Don't approach the owner and ask for cash to rewrite the ad...rewrite the ad and then approach the business owner.

PM me and I'll send you a pdf on how to write winning newspaper ads.

Do research and find businesses that don't have a website...don't approach them and ask for money to build a website -- build it first and offer it to them. You say what's that got to do with copywriting? Well, you put the website together and made it irresistible didn't you?

A little bit of research and knowledge that most can learn will enable you to put together a website quickly.

Trying to get work as a copywriter? Find a product, write the letter and then approach the company and show them what you've got. It's how you start out in the business with no clients.

Somewhere at one time I read about an experiment where they dropped a copywriter into the middle of a city with no cash and nowhere to stay...by the end of the day he was making cash.

Get with it guys.

My point of this post is don't sit around and wait for customers...get out there and get them.

There's nobody you know that's gonna come by and drop a load of cash in your lap.

The courses you buy are using the biggest secret on the internet...they're selling courses.

There's is no "easy" way to riches short of the lottery.

It's not hard work...some just make it look easy

Clayton once told a story of him sitting down at his desk at 4am, and sending an email to (I think it was) John Carlton.

    The reply came back instantly.

Clayton replied 'Funny how two of the world's top copywriters are both hard at work hours before the sun comes up'.

OK, a little paraphrased but you get the point.

If making money was easy, everyone would be doing it.

If people tell you it's easy, they're full of crap.

Someone posted a critique here the other day for a product which could make >$1,000,000 in 6 months.

But was still looking for free critiques...

Work hard people. It's not easy getting to the top of the mountain. But the view from the top is SPECTACULAR!

And I can tell you from my own personal experience, direct experience of being in business for 30+ years... you've got to keep working your system. Constantly pushing yourself, marketing yourself, not being afraid to try new ideas.

Some ideas are going to blow up in your face. Some will work, others won't. Those that do, analyze what went right for you. Improve on it. You can improve everything by a factor of 10%.

Look at your competitors. What are they doing? What are they doing that you could also be doing? What are they doing that you could improve upon by a factor of 10%?

Can you make something faster, better quality, a quicker turnaround time or cheaper than your competition? What can you improve upon by a factor of 10%?

Like Marcus and one or two other copywriters I know... we're sick to the back teeth of seeing all of these get rick quick schemes. Money handed to you on a plate. Hello? The world doesn't work like that.

If you want to make serious money, you've got to buckle down to some hard graft, be prepared to put the work in. The time in. Carve out your niche. Don't shy away from being prepared to do whatever is necessary to give you competitive advantage.

Don't keep on looking at the clock. Entrepreneurs don't pay attention to how many hours they're putting in daily. I can tell you now, I've been putting in well in excess of 100 hours a week for decades now - 7 days a week. I don't stop. You just get used to it and if you enjoy what you're doing... time doesn't come into the equation.

Regularly, I'll put in a 24 hour stretch without blinking an eye. Often more. Sometimes 36 hours non-stop. It's about having a massive passion for what you do. Loving life. Loving your customers and wanting to give them the best value for money that you can.

On the subject of WSO's all many of them are selling you is hope. That is their trade. To excite you. To make you believe in yourself. That it can be done. But anything which promises you instant overnight success, just push this button, that button and another button 1-2-3 as easy as can be - run a bloody mile in the opposite direction.

You want it? How bloody badly do you want it? Are you prepared to pay the price in advance? Are you prepared to burn all your bridges behind you, to do whatever it takes to have whatever you want out of life?

You want money, fame, success, respect, material possessions, the fastest car, the big house? Then get off your fat arse and start putting some real work in. 5 years down the road, your work may just start paying for itself.

You ain't gonna do it unless you put everything into your business. Every waking hour living, breathing your business and pulling out every stop imaginable to make it work.

That's my rattle, I'll stop there before I positively explode and write a bloody novel.

You look a little bit like me only you've got more hair and I'm more handsome and more intelligent.

Not bad though for an old codger.

          Kindest regards,

          Mark Andrews

Are you talking about adding a photo to your profile?

          If so go here.

I also suggest you go here, and add information like your website url if you have a site, contact details such as Skype if relevant and then scroll down and fill in as much detail as you can in the "Additional Information" section. This will help make your profile more attractive to potential customers/clients as they can get a better sense of who you are and also see that you have nothing to hide.

If you need any help with any of this just PM me.

Get rich quick schemes are usually scams, and the only person profiting is the one selling it to you...

I put in crazy hours...often sleeping just 4 hours a night to get my work done...

I'm not as crazy as Mark though - 24-36 hours straight probably explains why he's so moody :p (just kidding Mark )

But I do have a tip though if you're struggling...

Find someone successful and emulate them...

If you can, enroll in their coaching program and learn from them first-hand. Trust me when I say it's better than ANY book because books can't tell you where you're going wrong.

FIND ways to make it easier on your self - you don't have to work stupid hours to get the job done if you can find a smarter way to do the same thing which takes less of your time...

But you STILL have to work and STILL have to put the effort in.

Even the most successful people in the world still work, and they are where they are because they are willing to do what the lazy one's won't.

They'll go the extra mile and take risks the way an average person wouldn't...

And whatever they do, they never EVER quit!

    Winners don't quit...and quitters don't win.

    It's as simple as that.

Thanks for this post Max! Super helpful ...

How would you suggest we approach the business with our sales letter ... Phone? Email? Set up a meeting?

And then how do you bring up payment if it ends up converting well?
