I'm Considering a Future in Copywriting

Hello,
I have just started looking into a possible future in copywriting and I noticed that the people posting in these threads are quite knowledgeable about this line of work. My main question is is if it's worth pursuing? I love writing just about anything and I hate the idea of going into an office for the rest of my life and hating every bit of it and I'm loving the idea of being my own boss and working from home. I'm also in college at the moment working on a Bachelors in English. I was considering starting out now part-time while I'm still going to school. Would that be a good idea for me to do?
I was also considering publicist as a job too.
And can anyone tell me if that AWAI program is worth it and if they are legit because I have no clue at all.
If anyone can give me some feedback on suggestions I'd love to hear them. I'm trying to figure out my life with a career before I get into an actual career I hate.

Thanks.

    it's wroth it

keep writing - but if you want to be a sales copywriter you need to practice writing in a conversational tone vs the formal s*** they teach you in school...

as for stufying up and getting ready - you're better off studying the human mind to figure out what makes folks tick...

you may get a bunch of hard to find books referred to you or expensive courses - and they are mostly worth reading - but here are some books you can get at your public library that'll get you ready...

    'Influence' by Robert Cialdini
'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie
'No B.S. Sales Success' by Dan Kennedy
'The Ultimate Sales Letter' by Dan Kennedy (and pretty much anything this guy writes is solid)

That's more than enough to get you started... If you are a real sales copywriter you're naturally curious and will find plenty more to study after reading those...

finally - the only real shortcut in life - if you can find a mentor that will let you apprentice under them you will be light years ahead of someone trying to figure this out by themselves...

anyways - my two cents - and i make a great income as a freelance copywriter - and use the same skillz to sell my own offers...

you never have to go into an office - you can do it from anywhere in the world - and you can make more money than you can spend if you master it

and just so we're clear - i'm talking about how to become a sales copywriter not some other lesser mortal
