Is my copyright and SEO just plain bad, or what?

Hi,

I'm a new....and I mean BRAND NEW affiliate marketer, or at least I am having a go at it. I have researched affiliate marketing via two training courses - Money Site Secrets, and Google Sniper 2.0.

I decided to have a go at marketing a clickbank product, and I put together a site.

It has been up and running for quite a few weeks now, its been indexed by google etc..., but it doesn't appear to be ranking in google, let alone be clicked on much at all. I believe I have established good on-site SEO, but not much luck.

I want to know if its just my copyright that sucks? or is it my SEO? or is it simply that I have chosen a poor topic? or well, ....I don't know!

My website is: ipadlessons123.com

...or am I plainly expecting more results too soon?

Thanks for any advice, because I would really like this to work.

Have you done any backlinking, social bookmarking etc...? Might be worth taking $20-$25 and putting it into Fiverr gigs that will improve your site. I don't really like the domain. I can see how it's relevant, that your site is making tutorials/lessons as easy as "1, 2, 3" but generally i'd say only be using words in your domain, I like to stray away from numbers. Just my opinion. I'll bookmark this thread as i'm currently at work and have a look later to see whats what. I might not be able to give as good advice as some on here, but I can certainly try!

I did do some social bookmark backlinking, but they don't seem to be showing up, including when I check in Google Analytics too.
      For example, I backlinked with:
      Digg
      Folkd
      Kwoff
      Ebaum's World
      linkaGoGo
      Tagza
      Plime
      SoForce
      Oyax
      MyLinkVault
      BukMark
      Gozoof

I even have a YT link as well, but Google Analytics has only picked up 4 backlinks - which were Google.com, youtube.com, ismysiteindexed.com, and alexa.com

How do you sort which people on Fiverr are going to do the best job? For example, when I search "backlink", there are heaps that come up for "$5". Some boast 1st page rank with Google by 15050 wiki backlinks, etc...

I'm just a bit worried that google will sandbox me for sudden boost of backlinks, or otherwise poor quality links.

I generally sort them by rating. That way you can read customer reviews and whatnot. Add my Skype. I'll be in at around 10:30GMT. Maybe we can have a chat there. adam.panda.downing

I wouldn;t do fiverr gigs with my site, just because it's been overused too may times.

So fiverr is no good full stop? Or are there some genuine offers?

And how many backlinks am I looking at for my site, which targets low kw phrases, in order to hit #1 page of google? 100? 500? 1000? ...or more?

The other top ten sites which rank for my main kw phrase seem to be fairly week, almost all of which only have a PR of 2.

Before expecting much from SEO you'll want at least 500+ links. Still, it depends on your market. For that target keyword phrase you are going for, are the top ranking sites really well marketed? Do they have strong SEO behind them?

If you want to rank #1, your SEO needs to be more interesting to Google than the SEO behind the top 10 results. See what they are doing so you can figure out what you need to do.

SEO takes time. It's like planting a tree. You can get it in the ground quickly, but getting it to grow up will take nurturing and patience. Until your site is #1, why not try some free traffic methods? There are tons out there and you could get faster results with those than with SEO. Plus, some methods could help with SEO.

Here are a few ideas for free traffic:
    - Forums
    - Guest blog posts
    - Social media

I have both traffic Travis (free version) and market samurai (paid version) for doing my research. According to TT, my competition with the top 10 sites is very easy, since their SEO is average, and the highest PR is either 2 or 3, but most of them being 1 or 2.

I did link build a few weeks ago with about ten or so social media sites, like digg, kwof, etc, but they haven't show up as backlinks according to Google webmaster tools. I don't know why.

So, getting back to the other part of my first question, would you say that my sales copy on my website sucks?

Please be honest, because I want critical feedback. Its my very first site I've ever done, and hence my very first sales copyright I've ever written, and to be honest, I don't know if its bad, average, good, or fantastic.

Any ideas would be appreciated gratefully!

^^Above. It's bad. It's boring. Much of it seems to be rambling, stuff just thrown in there so you have a longer post. You have no headline, no compelling reason for anyone to want to read further.

      This for example:

"Pete’s ipad Lessons – Who are they for?

Well….they are for ANYONE who needs help in learning how to use their apple iPad..."

      Ugh.

Another thing. This isn't exactly the place where you're going to get any decent advice on SEO. Nick is the only one who has offered anything truly useful. Getting backlinks from fiverr, for example, is going to hurt you far more than help. People offering backlinks on fiverr are more often than not spamming your links all over creation to sites totally unrelated to yours. Those links get removed by pissed off Blog owners almost immediately. Doing that is not advisable.

For now, forget trying to drive targeted traffic to this site because it would be completely wasted. I commend you on your effort. Now you need to find someone who knows how to write an effective landing page. That's what this is by the way, a landing page. People land on your page, get excited about the offer and click to the sales page. At least that's the goal. You're looking for someone who knows how to presell. It's a form of copywriting. Oh yeah, you keep writing copyrighting. That's a completely different animal. Good luck.

Where is the best place to get tips on presales writing? I really want to learn, but who/how do I learn? I mean, I could outsource it, but I would prefer to do it myself-- writing TOP quality call-to-action material that just begs the reader to buy.

Is there anyone here who does this, that might be able to do this for me, or otherwise teach me how?

Or otherwise perhaps point me in the right direction with material to read?

Yeah, the regulars on this board do it. I do it. In fact, it's my specialty, or one of them. I write much better pre-sell pages than actual sales pages. I doubt you'd want to pay me my rate though.

As for learning to write them yourself. You could. But you've gotta understand, this isn't like learning to drive. It takes time to get good enough to have your writing convert. As for resources on the subject, hell, there are dozens, if not hundreds of recommended books on copywriting in the stickies of the Copywriting board right here.

There might be some stuff specifically written about pre-sell writing but almost any copywriting book would be a good start.

Please don't take this the wrong way but by the looks of what you have up there now it would be several months or more before you were writing compelling copy. I imagine that before long one of the young bucks (or does) will see this thread and hit you up through a PM. Just be careful. You don't want to spend good money for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

          Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your input, I'll spend some time learning about mastering presales and copyrighting. Especially thanks to Nick, travlinguy and andrew!

I like what travlinguy has to say, the power is in the "presell". An easier way to promote affiliate products is to presell your visitors on what you have to offer, arouse their curiousity, then send them to a sales letter and let the product owner do the selling.

I'm kind of confused now....I thought landing page writing and presale copy, and copyright are the same. Or am I wrong?
