This is where I'd start. http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...ers-forum.html Then read this one. Top Copywriting Books... Ever Just to warn you, there are those on this forum that SWEAR SEO is the bane of copywriting. While I tend to follow that, I've also got to say that Google knows what a page is about, even if you're not stuffing with keywords. So copywritten pages CAN and DO rank well for specific searches when the page gives QUALITY info on that topic. |

I'd just like to second scheda on the SEO thing. It's Google's job to know what a page represents. So if you're writing a sales letter which also gives good information (like TheLazyMarketer), then you can hope to get some SE traffic. I've seen many product websites having an article section, which provides information, and also advertises the main product.

I'd start by hitting the space bar after a punctuation mark and properly phrasing my posts.

Seriously though, spelling and grammar is a big one. You'll definitely want to work on that. You'll also want to take Scheda's advice. Really, that's all you need at this point to improve yourself. Good luck.

It perhaps conceals a more significant point: it's going be really difficult for most people speaking English as a second language to become professional copywriters in English. "I wish to be good in copywriting" should really be "I wish to be good at copywriting", or more colloquially "I want to become good at copywriting". And however much copywriting technique you can master, without colloquial English fluency, it's going to be an uphill struggle, to put it mildly. Absolutely no criticism intended, but you do need to be aware of this.

I agree with Onslaught here. Listen, just get your hands on quality books (go to the thread referenced above), print out some of the great ads (www.hardtofindads.com) and then copy them by hand. I advice you also hit up Untitled Document Million dollar copywriting education there. And to take it a step further, I would look into a consumer psychology newsletter (Society for Consumer Psychology: Main) Good luck. - Angel |

| Yes, you could write for scriptlance. Or, for the same money you could work at Mcdonald's. I believe if you choose the second option, you get a free # 2 combo at the end of your shift. So, take your pick. All the best Bill Jeffels |

I tend to agree with what Bob Bly wrote about sites like GAF in Secrets of a Freelance Writer: I advise you to completely avoid www dot elance dot com, www dot Goober dot com and all other Web sites promising to find writers work online. They are a complete waste of time. Clients who put jobs up for bid on these sites are, almost without exception, all price-buyers. They are shopping for the low bid, and are not looking for quality, experience, credentials, or any other advantage you may offer. Therefore, if you respond to bid requests on www dot elance dot com, you will be outbid every time if you charge your normal rates, and will consequently never win any job. |

I'm making a point. The person in question can work for e-lance or whatever bottom feeder bidding website or they can study copywriting, get every course, get every book, watch every seminar. When I discovered copywriting I was obsessed. When I wasn't reading about copywriting... I was listening to a Gary Halbert cd or a John Carlton cd... when I wasn't listening to a cd I was watching a copywriting seminar. So, no it's not silly. I'm making a point. Some people are going to make it in copywriting, and some people just don't have the passion. Regards, Bill Jeffels

mavischan - This is not meant as an insult, truly, but if you want to write for the English-speaking market, you first need to work on your English. On the other hand, you could take what you learn in your reading, and write for the market in your native language. The chances are that you will have a jump on your competition there. |
