New dropshipping store - 2 sales after 1 month

Hello Warriors!

I opened a dropshipping store about 1 month ago. I have some dropshipping experience from ebay etc, but I have zero experience in online marketing, webstores and so on.
I did some FB ads and IG shoutouts, I had 1 sale from FB, and 1 from IG - I think.

www superheroez(dot) com

I have some unique visitors - mostly from IG, but they are only watchers not buyers.

I know that my store is in an oversaturated niche, but still it could be better. My prices are better than any other superhero store, and my pics are ok. Not every product has a description yet, but I don't know if I need that. I use smartlook to 'spy' on my visitors, and they don't read, only look at the pictures.

Could you explain to me what should I add or change to start selling things?

IG is almost 2,5k followers.

People are commenting sometimes on my posts with products, but no one buys it.

I would keep in mind that nobody goes to instagram or facebook to buy things. They go there to look at pictures of kittens or whatever. Sure, you can advertise there and once in a blue moon, somebody might see that ad, visit your site and buy something.

That's the reason that facebook and instagram advertising is so inexpensive compared to advertising on places where people looking to buy things actually search - search engines. Instagram and facebook have their places in the advertising scheme - we use them for remarketing ads.

You might be right. But people still make successful FB and IG ads. And FB and IG are probably the easiest ways to make sells in the beginning.

What evidence are you basing your comment on?

Facebook and Instagram are good for segmentation and some lead generation but for selling? ....only if there is some serious incentive and even then I'd categorise deep incentives as real lead generation activities not profitable sales.

It is different when you are showing retargeted ads to prospects who have demonstrated an interest.

The point Dave was making is you can target buyer keywords and searches in other advertising platforms like Adwords where people are further down the funnel than someone who is just in the awareness phase.

        Best regards,

        Ozi

I'm with you, Oziboomer. We definitely use Facebook for retargeting ads and those do fairly well. As a straight advertising platform, it fails miserably for most product niches, though.

I totally agree with what he is saying. Research indicates that a huge percentage of people who are looking to buy something go directly to Amazon. It is extremely logical to have some of your inventory on Amazon if that is possible for you.

I used to sell on Amazon and I switched everything to dropshipping using Shopify using Facebook and Instagram ads. I beg to differ.

LOTS of people buy from Instagram. This is one of the cheapest place to advertise right now.

        Things have changed.

I will admit I actually do not know much about Instagram, bit I do know more people buy from Amazon and the cost of advertising is generally non-existent or very low.

As with most marketing you should strive for multiple streams of income so if people will buy your product from Instagram then that is a good avenue to pursue.

            I agree.

My main problem with Amazon is that you actually need to rank the product well in order to make sales. How do you rank the product? By having a lot of sales, this is how their algorithm work. So you DO NEED to spend money to get there, by giving a huge discounts for units in exchange of reviews etc.

I didn't like the fact each time I want to test a product, I need to drop AT LEAST $500 in order to do it.

I disagree with everything this guy says it is crazy.

Facebook and Instagram are the two best places for Ads right now. It is literally the easiest thing ever.

Adwords? Yes it is still good, but we are not in 2012 anymore.

      Hi,

I am new to network marketing and e-comerce. I am looking for a way to reach new customers on the part of social networks. What platforms u suggest apart from FB and Instagram?

      Any help would be appreciated.

The other big four are Youtube, Pinterest, Twitter and Linkedin.

But there are so many social networks and what really matters is you find where your customers are hanging out or discussing what it is you are selling.

A good reference to help you identify the networks you can try is the conversation prism.

It will help you identify so of the places you can look at when it comes to driving social traffic.

Go and download a larger version of the image below or get a copy of their poster for you to reference.

It takes a long time to get the shipment to the FBA warehouse, product research, etc. THEN you have to rank your product.

I'm not saying it is not a bad method. Amazon FBA is amazing, but there are quicker methods out there.
