Do eBay/Amazon sellers need their own web stores?

I've heard from a lot of struggling marketplace sellers who think all their problems will be solved if they set up their own online store.

But for most sellers, it just doesn't make sense! There are so many differences between selling on eBay or Amazon and your own store, and the marketplaces have the advantage in almost all of them.

Unless you have a really well-targeted niche, your own web store is unlikely to succeed - no matter how good your marketing is.

    The only reason i might set up my own store is to attach it to my ebay items to have more content for their search engine.

    Having its own webstore is actually good. We get customers coming to our site from ebay or amazon with some question. When we answer question, they then buy on our website which means no comission paid taken by ebay or amazon. More money in our pockets.

    So it's definetly worth it. Make sure you put on your site that zopim chat software, because most of customers come with questions.

      I'm sure having the chat box boosts sales. That's actually great advice. I don't see that many sellers that have it. I'd mention that fact on every ad.
