I was wondering how most people approach e-mail marketing when different groups are involved. For example trying to sell a guide to 19 year old's guys on how to pick up girls would seem like you could push pretty hard in trying to sell saying something like better buy today so you can work your magic by the weekend.

However if you had something like a baking site and you were trying to sell your baking book to 45 year old women, that kind of approach to push hard to sell probably wouldn't be a good idea. So I was just wondering how people sell to different groups. Thanks Mark

I think that depends on your groups' "buyer intent". If you have a list that is only interested in "freebies" then hard-selling will not work. On the other hand, if the group is interested in "the best way to..." or "the best software for..." for instance then you have more chance of success with the hard sell. You need to decide if your list members are purely information seekers, or if they are ready to buy.
