For a variety of reasons, I'm ditching my shopping cart in favor of either Gumroad or Payhip.

As far as I can tell, both offer a flat 5% commission, affiliate programs and other features you'd expect from a digital download service.

However, it appears that Gumroad deposits your earnings only every two weeks, while Payhip does so within a few days after you make sales. On the other hand, with Gumroad you would not be paying a Paypal or Stripe commission when you have your earnings deposited there and with Payhip you would be (as far as I can tell).

Is there anything mistaken in the above? Any other differences or experiences you've had that can enable me to make this choice?

Thank you,

Marcia Yudkin

    Marcia,

I have no experience with the two you mention . . . but another alternative is eJunkie.com in case you are looking for additional options.

You pay a monthly subscription fee only according to the number of products your sell. . . not on a commission basis for what you sell.

    For the first 10 download products it's $5/month . . . very reasonable IMO.

Of course if you offer hundreds of downloads it will be more. But for someone just getting started and only a few products is very reasonable.

Plus eJunkie has it's own marketplace where you can get exposure for your products.

If you are interested, here is a link to a new customer promotion if you use PayPal as your processor: eJunkie Promo

This promo is for e-Junkie free for 90 days & get 25% off your first subscription! It's much better than the 1-week trial offer that the site promotes.

No, I have no affiliation with e-Junkie but I have used their service and they are reputable.
