There is no accounting for taste. Just because you won't buy it doesn't mean there are not millions of people who will love it! Millions brought a rock in a box and loved it.

Funny another glitter website is on flippa..think itvsold for 600 dollars, and the name was even.better and more memorable lol

I too wondered the legality of shipping someone glitter that explodes all over the place..thats vandalism in the least because the glitter at least has to be cleaned up..not to mention any thing it might ruin

Its a joke for the most part but theres always grumpy people like me who would be angered by a glitter bomb

What most of the industry commentators are missing is the trophy site element of the sale. That has varying levels of value depending on who the buyer is.

Ripped off? No. but in my opinion it wasn't a good investment. but that situation could be different for whoever the new owner is and we don't know their situation.

in my opinion, i don't think it's sustainable (at least at this level) and i could think of much better ways to invest $85,000. but they did get about 7,000+ hot leads so they could earn a decent chunk of that investment back fairly quickly.

The publicity for this site created massive competition. The low cost to entry for this product can be easily duplicated. As soon as publicity for the glitter web site started, entrepreneurs ran with the idea for this low cost, high profit product (with zero consideration for potential liability issues ).

Why buy the website and pay for traffic to it when eBay will charge you a percentage of your sales price for their traffic, and only if your product sells? As of today, there are several hundred results on eBay for Glitter Bomb. This keyphrase has the most results, but creative businesspeople are also targeting all the variations such as glitter gag, glitter prank, enemy glitter, etc.

...and I'm sure the guy behind the original site has now gone back to his previous job, which was selling $10 Practical Joke Kits at the local flea market. These kits consist of a paper bag filled with dog poop, a cigarette lighter and 3-line instruction sheet stapled to the bag

from my understanding, the guy got a list of buyers as well as some fairly popular "recently engaged" social media accounts.

He also go lots of free publicity for his $85k.

If he plays this right, there is no way he can lose money on the deal. There are lots of other ways to use the assets he "bought" outside of just continuing to try to run the glitter bomb website.

most of you are looking at the product and thinking why did he buy into that scam? If thats what the owner "bought", meaning thats what he paid for in his mind was a glitter bombing business, then he is probably screwed.

but if he bought the much more appealing other assets, then he will do fine. He now has access to the same people that made the glitter bomb site go viral. thats worth a lot if you know what you are doing.

at the very very least, he will get several shots at making something else go viral with that group of people and media attention before he totally fades away.

news story " man who buys glitter bomb website for $85k is now doing _____" he has the medias ear. you cant buy that for 85k.

what he does with it, i cant predict, but a scam...no way.

Considering that he paid $85K for the site that had a brand new list of 15K of people just waiting for the buy button to reappear, which probably more than half paid for the site alone, all the free publicity, and the ongoing sales now that the buy button is on ... no, I don't think he got ripped off at all.

Isn't it just the same as any other "make money opportunity" that a person can buy into? Sure, they're all different, products are different, business model is different, audience is different . . .

But at the end of the day, making money online is all about taking the idea, making it fit into your own style and frame, and then figuring out exactly how to make it profitable based on your skills and effort.

Some see this glitter example as a totally bad deal. Others see it as a great opportunity. The bottom line is . . . do you have the skills, persistence, and smarts to turn the idea into profit? Some marketers have a knack for doing this sort of thing. Others don't have a clue how it's done.

Let that be the lesson. Know your own capabilities when starting up a business or an income stream. If you have the talent and ability to make a go of it - go for it! If you don't - don't buy another opportunity until you figure out how to be successful!

The best to all of you,

      Steve
