Came across this interesting story the other day.

Shapps Sold 'Get-Rich-Quick' Guide While MP

It seems like our British politicians are doing IM as well. I wonder if they are here on the WF ?

    They have plenty of money to worry about marketing on the internet. They may come on the internet only for one purpose, to steal the free internet from marketers.

    Yes I would have thought they made enough money especially with all those expenses, I guess not. Maybe they are even selling WSO's.

    The "Michael Green" (Schapps) story is really, really old news, but seems to get dredged up periodically by one publication or another. That happens in politics.

    That said, who knows?

    You'd think that politicians would have a different set of priorities, but there may be some who don't feel totally comfortable in the longevity of their elected status.

      When you think about it . . .

      Many of the selling skills that it takes to be a great marketer are those same skill sets that a politician would want:
      • Developing a list of followers and fans
      • Understanding the market (their constituency)
      • Branding themselves and their business (campaign)
      • Selling their product to whomever will buy
      • Extolling their own benefits and pointing out the flaws in their competitors
      • Staying in front of the audience (name recognition)
      • Customer service and putting out fires
      I'm sure there are many more similarities.
