Doing internet markeing means i have no life

I don't know how you guys spend 10-12 hours a day optimizing sales pages and monitoring IM campaigns.

I mean, it all has to drive you crazy - waking up whenever you wake up, and impulsively checking your e-mail for any paypal clickbank notifications, and than spending the next 8-12 hours trying to get a page to convert from 1% to 1.3%.

Especially if you are a single male. It has to be torture, doing this day in and day out.

I got a taste of the IM lifestyle today, and it's really soul-draining and full of hype.

The reality is spending hours a day for months and years on end behind a computer, slowly rotting away, gaining pounds of body-fat, and becoming less attractive to the opposite sex each passing moment.

I need a life man...

    Priorities.

Maybe focusing on what's important-like friends and family-will give much needed PERSPECTIVE...

    That leads to ...

    you guessed it...

    BETTER RESULTS.

I found this out the hard way.

My ecommerce business was EATING MY LIFE.

Now, I focus on working less but EARNING MORE.

You need to outsource your work, you don't have to do it all and waste of your time.

Not necessarily... sales copy cannot necessarily be outsourced for a reasonable rate.

If things click for you and you start earning sooner, then you might feel glued to the computer because you'd know the feeling of creating $$ seemingly out of thin air.

Now, if you're glued to your computer but not getting much done, or following the wrong people everything might feel a bit stupid if you have nothing to show for your time invested.

I spent a lot of time glued to my computer when i first started my business. Even when things crappy and i wasn't earning much if anything I felt a sort of satisfaction from learning new stuff.

For most people having a business online means to invest a lot of time upfront so you can work less later. It doesn't mean you don't have a life. But it can mean that you have to do a lot of grunt work to get the momentum started.

What you've just described looks like doing all the work without seeing results. And while that sucks, it can get better.

That's like the absolute extreme of what could happen. I go to the gym every day, I hang out with friends whenever i feel like it (on their days off, of course lol), and I invest time into my business.

If you need to get out and feel some fresh air, then do it. But if you really think spending a few hours daily (or many hours, depending on what you need done) feels like "rotting away" then finding something stable like a regular job might be better for you.

That's nothing against you, but getting into this online stuff literally is business. If it just doesn't feel right to you, then maybe that's a sign to move onto other things.

What is the definition of Life?
I believe life is the experience of your desires and dreams. However, you hav to put your efforts to reach those dreams. So if you believe IM can make your dreams come true, then you ARE living your life. Believe me when you hav your dreams right in front of your life, workin for it does not seem to be any problem, in fact u enjoy that..I personally do. These hours on the clock doesn't matter.
Just take care of health eat right take some time out for work out, even if its just stretching and you'l be fine. Use the rest of the time to work for your dreams and if IM can not giv u ur dream life, then find what can..when u see ur dreams come to life u will feel much more good then right now gossiping with friends.

    hey

yeah some good points here but probably in the beginning most marketers have done this. and as the saying goes "the amount of work you put in the amount of reward you gain"

Like people have suggested outsource or find ways to get things done more effectively!!

It can be a full time job but at least you get to choose the hours that you want to work. I think it is good to have a 5 year plan about what you would like to be making per a month and keep working until you acheive it. Remember you could always take a week vacation or something if you make the extra income and that is good motivation I think

To some extent you are right on your point of view.

However you also need to remember that for many people earning from internet, getting real job is difficult due to various reasons. For them internet marketing provides a decent way to earn bread and butter for them and their family .

Do what you like best and outsource the rest. I have been a full time Internet marketer for 9 years now and the Internet lifestyle is the freedom to work when and where you want.

I personally would never sit 10-12 hours in a row in front of my computer, and often take days off when I do not feel like working. Outsourcing makes that possible.

Think I ask before this question too.
      about social life.

now I go out once while on weekend , one month many every weekends sometimes two week never go out ! too

is a " weird feeling" when come going out , my mind will think ...." waste my time and money "
must well at home keep promote my IM than my mind think again " also consider ok once a while go out "

but I believe most of us will spend more time at home staring our computer ....since we into IM ( which I believe this is nature )

I use to think IM is ...just do 2 hours or even just 30 mins per day " magic " money come
But is not ...is really consume your time .

In the USA (and most of the world) two of the highest paying careers are Doctors and Lawyers. Their average incomes are always near the top, if they have chosen that path. A doctor in a humanitarian effort, like Doctors without Borders, makes a lot less than say the heart surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic.

Same for lawyers, the millionaire lawyers used to be called ambulance chasers, and the pro bono or public defenders have never made much money, relative to their careers.

Yet doctors sacrifice years of their lives, working very long hours, and very little social life...but they can get a huge payoff at the end of their studies, if they choose.

Yet, there are businessman who haven't finished high school who are millionaires and work very little on their business.

    My opinion is...

MOST of us are not exposed to all the possibilities and are not shown how to find out what we can do which will be the most satisfying for us.

Almost every successful person I know works hard because they have chosen to do something they like to do, whereas, those who chase only financial reward, may struggle for a long time and some with wild amounts of moolah in their pockets are unsatisfied andneed to make even more.

What do you want from your IM efforts? Whgat would the "final" result be? Because if you know where you want to go, then you can follow the pioneers who have carved a tested and proven path way to your goals.

It doesn't take trial and error, as so many claim, nor does it take hard work...it does require a knowledge of what you want and a map to follow to get it.

  • My first 6 years of internet marketing were just like that. Probably worked even more the 12 hours per day.

Had no social life, became less attracted to the opposite sex because they would destruct me....

But I knew it was for a good purpose.

Now I work less and have all the time in the world to do what I want. Go where ever I want, spend as much as I want.

People (including family) envy my lifestyle, cause it's a nice lifestyle.

But hey it wasn't gifted to me, I worked for it.

Who says you need to work 10-12 hours a day in the IM world? Maybe at the absolute beginning I can that being the case, but a lot of IM's (or at least experienced ones) have the freedom to work their own hours, and do what they want in their free time, when they want.

But when i first got started... the 10-12 days of glaring into my computer screen was a very real REALITY for me. Just keep doing what you know works for your business, and you'll see your reward soon. Even if that takes years to happen.

Not sure WTF you are talking about.

With internet marketing, you can build a business where technology does 99% of the work for you on a daily basis. What other job can give you that much free time? Nothing.

I have literally gone months without touching websites I own, and their profits did not go down. This is because they were built to profit with about as passive of a business model as you can get: Adsense + ebooks being sold to organic search traffic.

Yes, you are absolutely right on in your assessment. I know of one person who fits this description to a tee. Considering the exact situation you laid out there is three posibilities to consider.

    a) He will continue as is IF he's currently making good money.

    b) He will move on and find something more rewarding to do.

    c) He will get married and start a family to at least distract him to some extent and/or provide him more motivation to trudge on in this isolated/lonely/often scam filled IM world.

I've certainly had periods where several months in a row I was working from morning until night with very little time off. But then I've also had several months in a row where I had an incredible life and could do whatever I wanted everyday. I find that I'm going to have a little bit of both of these and it goes with what I do. Generally I can reach a point where I can go a year or more with just the occasional heavy workload once I get a business running pretty strong.

Work is work and has to be done in allotted hours dedicated to it.

Yes you have to work for prolonged hours in your IM ventures during your initial stage. However, if you have a proper strategy in place about setting up your IM campaigns and have a proper plan to implement that strategy in a time frame then it becomes easier to reduce those prolonged hours gradually.

And once your business is set up well, you have a choice for how you want to scale it up and so how much working hours you need to devote to it.

Assuming a six hour good sleep to keep you fresh and lively, it's up to you that how you sort out the rest eighteen hours to work and to live your life at it's fullest regardless of at what stage you are in your online venture.
