Does it count as syndication if a major site links to you?

If a major news site links to you, a big time company and site, does Google view this as you being "syndicated"?

Could a website expect to get a larger then normal boost in credit flow or serps if this happens?

No, a link to your site is not considered a syndication. Typically syndication involves licensing content from a provider to another broadcaster or distributor for dissemination to an audience or network.

A link from a major site is just that . . . a link. It doesn't stand for syndication, endorsement, or any other such "tie" as your are hoping.

    Hi,

I agree with Steve, it doesn't count as syndication. However, if a major site links to you, it will definitely improve your Serps.

The reason for that is that Backlinks plays a major part in google's algorithme.

About the credit flow, i don't what it is, so i can't answer that

Depends on how the link was created. As an example, I was quoted in a grandparents.com article a few weeks back and evidently the article is published a number of places, including the Huffington Post.

The article shows up verbatim, with a link back to the original. Sounds exactly like a press release right?

Given that fact, I highly doubt I see the same level of SEO value from it, as I would had the Huffington Post chosen to cover my company in a different way.
