Removed 'Addthis' button after 8 weeks of using it on one of my sites.

Everybody are so crazy about adding social bookmarking buttons to their sites with the hope that visitors might add their pages to SBM sites. So I thought to give it a try with one of my sites ...

Instead of reinveting the wheel I thought to go with 'Addthis' button. Just copy and paste the code. I did that in last week of May.

Last week when I was going thru my logs, I saw many visits ending up with page count 1. What is this? So I was digging deep the logs and found out many visits like this increasing recently. I went today to my web ste. It was loading very slow. The only thing I changed recently is adding 'Addthis' button.

So I went ahead and removed it. I prefer my pages loading fast to my visitor rather than getting a bookmark link which I am not sure of getting ...

But I did a search on Google. Few tips to decrease the loading time:

1. Host 'Add this' button image on your site.

This is good to know. I've been using it for some time because it cut down on code. Guess I need to look at it and maybe host the button like you mentioned.
