I want to sell an ebook, but am not sure of the technical side of things

I have a blog site, an on one of the blog posts I actually write about a certain topic. I discuss the topic at length and then refer them to a longer ebook providing even more information on the topic that I have written. At the end of the post I plan to have a link to a page where the person can actually buy the ebook.

That is where I am kind of stuck, because up until now I have only been selling as an affiliate. Just put in the hop link, hope for the sale and voila, you get your money.

But how do I do it for my own product? I want them to be able to pay via Paypal, so how do I set this up? Is it as simple as installing a PayPal plugin for WordPress?

Just so I can be clear, this is the process I have in mind.

Click link on blog post ----> squeeze page with option to "buy now" -------> Pay via paypal ------> get added to email list of buyers, with autoresponder set to send ebook immediately.

Is this generally how I would set it up? And does anyone have experience with this?

Sorry if I am not making too much sense or im rambling, its just that this is the first time I am trying to set up something like this.

Any help is appreciated!

    Short answer: yes.

Set up a button directly via Paypal, there are loads of YouTube videos teaching you how to set up a PayPal button. Then add that code into your website, either by text or image linking. Really depends on how you want to do it.

How exactly did you do for affiliate offers? It's pretty much the same thing, just changing an affiliate link to your own PayPal button.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers

Dan's right...set up a PayPal button and use that where you would normally have your affiliate link. It really is pretty simple to do, too. Just don't forget to set up the delivery of the ebook to them.

    Best Regards,

Instead of Squeeze page, change it to LANDING PAGE.

    Two totally different things.

You're not trying to get people to sign up to your mailing list, you're trying to get them to BUY your product.

    Optimize accordingly.

After they click the buy now button and pay, they get redirected to your squeeze page where they enter their email address.

After they enter their email address, your AR should send them the download link.

However, you are leaving money on the table.

At this point, use the confirmation page to NOTIFY THEM that the book is on its way via email AND UPSELL them on a related product.

Option to "buy now" shouldn't be on your squeeze page. After someone signs up to your email newsletter on your squeeze page, you can redirect them to an OTO/main product, or just continue to market to them via email.

When they click the product link in the email, THAT'S when they can read the product description and pay via paypal. And after that whatever automated process you setup can be done with ease.

If you want this to be your process...
Click link on blog post ----> squeeze page with option to "buy now" -------> Pay via paypal ------> get added to email list of buyers, with autoresponder set to send ebook immediately.

    1. Putting a link in the blog post should be easy for you. I recommend an image of the ebook, of course.

    2. The squeeze page - as someone wrote above - should probably really be considered a Landing Page or a Sales Page, but you probably meant that, a page that would explain even more about the ebook and convince someone to click the Buy button. Creating a buy button in Paypal is pretty easy: Log in to Paypal > Tools > Paypal Buttons > Create new button - then follow the wizard. The result will be some html for you to copy and paste into your Squeeze/Landing/Sales Page lol, which will then show the Paypal button to page visitors.

    3. The autoresponder. Don't know which one you're using, but I use aWeber. The process for yours is probably similar, but here's how it works with aWeber and Paypal:
    https://help.aweber.com/hc/en-us/art...l-With-AWeber-

That would subscribe your new buyer to your buyer's list which could be set up to then send an automated email with a link to your Download page for them, where they would go to download the ebook.

    Hope that helps! : )

I've never ever tried to put a buy now button on a squeeze page.

I would think better to promote EITHER your squeeze page, or your sales page. I've never tried to marry the two together.

(I believe that each page should have ONE goal, and marrying these two seems like an unnatural union).

    Why not try this:

Blog Post => Squeeze Page => Thank You Page With Video Promoting Your Offer

(Start your video by saying this "Thanks for subscribing! Be sure to check your email for your free gift, but first, XYZ").

    Or, much simpler,

    Blog Post => Sales Page

Semantics and technical details (squeeze page or landing page) aside, congratulations on getting started with your own products! That's where you'll find the greatest income security, and opportunities.

Also, pat yourself on the back for overcoming the hurdles you've run into, so far. Already, you've done more than most people do.

You're doing fine. The sequence you've described is a great way to start. As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. You will have some "learning curve" moments, regularly. That's normal. Keep moving forward. That's important.

You can tweak and improve things as you go along. You can do exactly what you've said. It's a direct-to-the-money process to get your business started. Many people began that way.

Once you see how well it works, you can make changes. A simple WordPress-PayPal plugin is a fine place to begin. PayPal will give you ideas, too, as will the YouTube videos others have recommended.

For a mailing list, Mail Chimp is a free place to get started. You can always switch to Aweber or Constant Contact (etc.), once you have enough subscribers (and income) to decide the features that are important to you.

If you have any delivery issues, I've used Ejunkie for years. It's inexpensive and secure, and a fine starting point if you want third-party delivery. That's not necessary at the beginning, and you may never need a third-party service. However, it can be helpful in some cases, so keep it in mind as an alternative. (For now, focus on getting started. That's the most important part. You can add "bells & whistles" improvements if you need them, later, as your business grows.)

Mostly, you should be proud of how much you've done so far. You've already figured out what you want to do, and started taking steps to success. This is huge, and kind of amazing, really. Congratulations, and I wish you great success!

I second the motion to use a front end catalog to your payment processor - the suggestion was Ejunkie - that is a good one to get started with. You could also use Clickbank, JVzoo, etc...

The benefit is that you get a system that tracks your sales, allows you to setup affiliate links (so others can promote your ebook as you have done for others in the past, easily manage any refunds, special coupon prices you may want to offer for a limited period or to certain audiences, etc...

I would suggest you include a link to your ebook in the upper part of your blog post as well as the lower (at the end as you mention). You will get a certain number of people who want to immediately jump to your product without going through the entire long-form post.

Speaking of selling ebooks, does any know where I can sell the rights of my book? I have a 100-page home-buying guide and want to sell its copyright to someone. Any ideas?
