Best way to build a list to prelaunch an ebook

Hey everyone,
I have a blog that has been doing good. It's profiting from affiliate marketing.

I came up with an ebook idea based on my most engaged and asked-about content. To make sure I don't waste any time writing a book with no market, I am running a basic survey on my website. I also asked for detailed opinions in different sub-Reddits and got a heap of up-votes and positive feedback. (A good sign was that a lot of people were saying things like "YES!" and "Finally! I've been waiting for this").

Now, I created and opt-in to start building a list. I probably should've added opt-in links to Reddit when the traffic was at its peak, but I really wanted to avoid upsetting people thinking that I was self-promoting.

An idea I had was to start a Facebook page and target ads to it. I'm not too experienced with PPC in general, but I think it would be a good fit for prelaunching a book.

So my question to you is what are your favorite ways to build a list for an ebook you are writing. Are there certain social networks you prefer over others? Also, are there any mistakes that I should avoid when building a list to prelaunch a book?

Can't wait to get some feedback! Thanks a lot warriors!

You can run Facebook ads, and do video marketing to get people excited for it. A good strategy I've seen is people dangle the carrot. They show you how to do something cool...then you tell them listen if you want to learn more cool stuff like this get on the prelaunch list for my ebook where I'll show you XYZ..

Something like that could work extremely well.

Heavy forum marketing with a free lead magnet.

SECRET: Make sure your pre-launch page has a CASE STUDY that spells out why people should care about the product you're launching.

Typical teasers won't work since people are jaded

You need to unlock the power of VIDEO case studies to make your pre-launch page VACUUM leads.

If you don't have time to do forum research you can hire a VA for $75 a day to do it for you. You have to do the posting yourself though.

The good news is it is easier than you think.

Targeted blog commenting can also work if you hit active blogs with enough traffic.

One of the quickest ways to build a BIG list is to find others in your niche with email lists and try to get a solo dad with them.

Also do guest posting too as it'll add organic authority.

Finally if you're promoting a large info program of some kind, it could be worthwhile to network with other movers and shakers in that niche to see if they will promote it with you in an affiliate-type setup.

Affiliates = your biggest list builder if you have a solid product that converts well and people enjoy.

Edwin Torres hit the nail on the head. Give away free content that your book will expand on heavily. Make sure it is great content that will get people excited. Then send them to a prelaunch squeeze page.

Another good option would be to do something like a 3 video content series. Give people video 1 and 2 for free and require them to subscribe for #3. Number three would be the most desired one to get them to sign up.

Then you could use paid ads or many other marketing strategies to promote that content and get people to sign up. This is more effective than just sending people to a prelaunch page.

what are your favorite ways to build a list for an ebook you are writing.
Give out some review copies to get some testimonials. Put your best ones on a squeeze page offering the first chapter free for opting in. Also offer a special launch discount for any one who opts in pre-launch.

Create a "preview" book of sorts, and offer it for free. A book that provides value, creates interest, and pre-sells your upcoming product. Provide a link to your squeeze page at the end of the preview book. In return for the opt in, provide something of further value that creates an even more natural path to, and need for, your upcoming product.

I would use the free WSO offered in the warrior plus, create a "Lite" version of your ebook and offer for free there, with thousands of "targeted" audience, you cannot lose.

The other option, use the Facebook Marketing to promote your "lite version of the ebook. Put a budget of $10-15 daily maybe for about 15 days and watch the response. Again highly target audience, even if they don't take up your offer and just "like" your page, it is still an onus for you. When you offer good advise or offer on your Facebook page, it will be seen by those who "like" your page, and if they interact to your page by adding a comment, those in their facebook page will also see your content ie. doubling the number of "eyeballs" to your page.

Hi Facebook advertising is great and video marketing on YouTube and video market of Facebook.

Its a great idea but for the start i would test everything before with solo ad and see if the conversion rate on optin are good or is there something you can improve in...

Solo ads are great for tester and try split testing things

I had to learn it the hard way but the best way to know is to test in any market or niche...

Keep testing until you are happy with the results and by then many will know you and your eBook

ANY THING OVER 30% OPTIN RATE IS PERFECT BUT THAT DEPENDS ON YOU AND THE NICHE IN WHAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH

    GOOD LUCK

(Late reply, sorry) Great info! What's the advantage with solo ads over Facebook ads when you are starting out?

Affiliate partners are by far the best way to get a flood of traffic and leads IF you are doing this as part of a launch - where you bring them into a sales funnel and then convert them to customers within a 2-4 week period.

Yes, generating content, advertising on FB and PPC all work - but nothing works quite like having 20-30 strong partners send you their traffic via endorsement.

I would setup a sales funnel with strong opt-in incentive (2-3 part course) which performs the role of a) Getting the lead b) Warming the lead through empathy and trust c) address the obvious top 1 or 2 objections and d) provides an "insiders" offer that they can't refuse which results in a commission for the partner.

Have you thought about turning your ebook/book only into two product options - 1) the base package with the book and perhaps one or two bonuses and 2) fast-start or upgraded program with some accompanying value in the form of supporting videos, exercises, a coaching call or two, etc...for higher price. This can work very well and helps you capture more customers from the funnel.
