Why isnt' everybody doing this?

Hi warriors!
I have been using Aweber for a long time. I am pleased with their services.
The thing is that I now have nearly 10k subs, and as soon as I reach that number, the monthly payment will go from $69 to $149.
Sure, there are cheaper alternatives like MadMini but in my research I have found other much cheaper alternatives that I understand require you to install a script or software in your cpanel.
I think this is the case for sendy.co or arpreach.
In Fiverr there are people who install a script on your cpanel. You pay only once and then you are good to go.
For beatiful webforms you can use Optinmonster or something similar.
That option can save you a lot of money every month, but my question is...
Why is not everybody doing this?
Am I missing something?
I will appreciate your answers.
Thanks a lot

    ¡Hola!
    A few reasons.
    1. People just don't know how easy it is to install the script or even write one from the scratch.
    2. You need a lot of IP addresses. If you send 10K emails from your web server the IP may get blacklisted. Not sure how Awaber handles this.

      Oh, I see..
There are people who can install it for you for $15 in Fiverr.
As for the IPs, I have no idea...
      Thank you for your input!

One simple script doesn t fix everything... professional services ensure that you can actually send the message to all your subscribers with no hassle. Getting subs isn t the hardest part, being able to send messages without getting blocked is..

yeah that script is not as easy as it might seem. There is a lot of back behind the scenes things that you need to do to email your list.

Try infusionsoft and you'll pay a lot more but you get a lot more as well....

How is your relationship with your list? Whats your average open rate?

My relationship with my list I would say is good. My average open rate is 18%.
      Is this any good?

Most marketers would give their left arm to get opening rates like that. How do you do it...maybe - just maybe its time you did a 'list relationship' WSO

I moved to self hosted a long time ago and love it. More and more people are moving to self hosted. One key is to manage your spam complaint percentages by using multiple SMTP services. Also with self hosted, if you have a problem with a particular SMTP services, it only takes a few seconds to change over to a different one.

Now if you want to send from your own sever and not use a SMTP service, that is a completely different ball game and is not for everyone. Lot's more to do and manage.

Can I ask you how do you use multiple SMTP services? I mean, is it through some kind of program or subscription?
      Thank you!

The self hosted mailer program lets you set what SMTP service you use. You just change a few settings to change services as needed.

In theory, one could even rotate through a set of accounts, if one was suitably motivated. I've never tried this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

It's all about DELIVERY. If you have a lot of subscribers but most of the emails you send out are ending up in their spam folders, you're going to make a lot less money.

I look at this scenario a different way.

Sure, when one hits 10,000 subscribers the monthly fee goes up but that monthly fee is RELATIVE to the money one makes.

Example, I have well over 200,000 subs in a few niches and I pay a hefty fee for that. I pay much more than I did when I only had 10,000 subscribers.

BUT I also make much more than I did with only 10,000 subs so I don't care about the higher fee.

My list does, and always wil, pay for itself. I know exactly how much money each address is worth and as long as that collective figure is greater than the cost of maintaining the list, I'm good.

I implore everyone to think of it this way and stop tripping over dollars to chase pennies.

I DO also have Arp Reach, a self hosted solution but that's SOLEY for backup and redundancy.

What you're not seeing is the "behind the scenes" process of sending out lots of emails.

If I tried to send large amounts of email on a regular basis my hosting service would shut me down quickly.

In addition, companies whose business is email delivery work very hard to keep their service white-listed and out of spam folders. The same can't be said for your private email service or script.

I have seen estimates that suggest up to 75% of all commercial email never reaches the inbox of the intended party. That's what aWeber and other professional services work hard to overcome.
