Direct Media Buying - How to keep website's impressions accountable and optimize campagins

Hi Warriors,

I have been thinking about placing ads on a few targeted websites by doing direct media buys (and placing my banners on their site) where I pay per impression on a fixed CPM rate.

The websites publishers actually contacted me and think my product would be good on their site too.

I want to do this but I'm a newb at this and don't want to get screwed over.

I want to keep the websites accountable for the impressions (i.e. if I pay for 100,000 impressions I want to get 100,000 impressions)...

And I want to optimize for best banner (by clicks/conversions) etc.

To do this, it seems like I need to use my own adserver.

What's the best way for a newb to get into this? I know I need to take this step in my business so I'm not so dependent on my other traffic sources ...but I want to make sure I do it right.

Thanks.

Try prosper202 to track the links/clicks coming from the banners on the site, if there are lot of impressions and bounce rate is high your rankings will decrease try using a subdomain landing page and use third part analytics like www.gostats.com to track the visitors.

Am I able to track impressions? Because I can track clicks with my Clickbank 'tid'.

I just want to make sure my ads are served the amount of times I pay to have them served.
