Warriors,

I uploaded new sales page files via FTP and now the top of the page at the top says "Index of /XXX" and below that shows the parent directory followed by a list of the files. I deleted the old files before I uploaded the new ones.

What do I do to make the sales page show up? I know this is a simple change, but can't figure out what needs to be done.

TIA!

HMPH,

Pai Mei

Based on your post it's hard to give you any meaningful advise.

We don't know what files you uploaded in exactly what directory. In any case, first you should probably check if you actually uploaded an index.html file.

Thanks Joe Ray, I did not upload an index.html file as well. If I did not does that mean the sales page wouldn't show?

If you did not upload the index.html, that's probably is the issue.

Looks like you have left the header image out of the images folder in the FTP/Website

The best thing you can do when you are starting a new site is to make a folder on the desktop and call it be the domain (i.e. mysite.com ) and put all the files and images and video etc etc into the folder , and then just open folder in FTP and copy all files and upload it is the easiest way to do it and works 100%

There is no header image for this Jason. It is just a text headline at the top.

I created a folder already like the one you said.

If you are wanting the page to show by just typing in the domain, it needs to be uploaded to the public_html folder. If you want it to appear like domainname.com/somefolder/ it needs to be uploaded to a folder named somefolder inside your public_html folder.

To display a page by just typing in the domain name or domain.com/somefolder/ the page you want to access needs to be named index.html, index.htm or index.php unless you have configured your server to display a different page name as the default.

If you can type in "http://your-domain.com/name-of-parent-directory" in your browser address bar, and the sales page show up, then all of the parent directory content needs to be moved out of the folder, so that typing "http://your-domain.com" shows the sales page.

If it still does not show up, and you have no .html or .php or some other file with a primary extension that references the other files/folders and so on, then you are missing a critical file somewhere.

If you have a graphic in a folder, for example...let's say it's called "myphoto.jpg" and it's in a folder that is inside your parent directory (folder), then you get it to show up by typing in the full path to the file in your browser address bar...so, "http://your-domain.com/parent-directory-name/folder-name/myphoto.jpg" - you need to find what folder or file references the others to show your sales page and point your browser to the full path to that file (or to the folder containing that file), if it exists.
