Have you ever done this before as and affiliate??

Hey warriors I have little question. A couple of years ago when I first started marketing. My plan was to take my affiliate link and post it everywhere I couple. I did not really know about marketing then so this was the best way I could think of. But I ended up getting a mentor and doing better marketing. But I was wondering have any of you guys done this before. I ask because I have a younger family member who is getting into affiliate marketing and he does not have any money for a mentor right now. I told him he could do that but honestly I never even tried it before. So I just wanted to know if any of you guys had experience doing this. By posting your affiliate link I mean picking a niche, and then posting your affiliate anywhere that you can in your niche. (Facebook, YouTube,Pinterest , google plus , forums etc).

No offense, but why does someone need a mentor to tell them this is a lousy plan? This scatter-gun approach will lead to nowhere.

And why does someone need a mentor in the first place? The whole idea of this forum is to learn from it, for free!

I agree with Robert. Mentors are a tremendous value - the downside is there are a lot of bad ones that aren't as dedicated to their customers.

        As far as the OP:

Affiliate marketing is best done by developing an asset that you can tap at any time for a surge in commissions. Think about the logic of posting an affiliate link everywhere you can...

        1. You're likely to be flagged for spam in a large number of places that could be used as a prized possession if you had taken your time and been strategic
        2. You're not creating value. At the end of the day the internet marketers that make the most money create the most value.
        3. Not investing anything and getting something in return is a pipe dream or a shiny distraction not a reality
        4. If he doesn't have the money to get started in a space like affiliate marketing have you offered him a loan and your mentor-ship? People that are pressed financially won't be focused on the right activities that will make them succeed.

I made it from NEED, now I fight off GREED.

Having a hard time finding VALUE? Shoot me a PM. It's time to give back.

If your mentor isn't mentoring you for FREE, you are acting stupid by paying them. Think of this: why would you want to be mentored by somebody so hard up for money they had to spend their time training random people for money?

In the business world, mentors do not charge for their mentorship they do it because they believe in their student. Further, successful people can't charge enough for their time to make it worth teaching from a monetary standpoint -- a successful person would not ask you for money to advise you, they would want you to demonstrate the commitment and skills so they can see their time wouldn't be wasted on you.

Consultants charge for specific advice because they have specific expertise, scammers and snake oil salesmen charge for general and vague services like "mentorship". Paying for mentoring is just begging to be scammed. Pay for direct and specific training, technical advice and services only. It makes sense to pay a lawyer to advise you on the law, but it makes zero sense to pay somebody to "mentor" you on making money because all they can honestly do is mentor you on how to charge money for mentoring.

You both need to do a search on google for the term business consultant, highly successful entrepreneurs and fortune 500 companies hire business consultants and trainers on a regular basis

That's an opinion that you cant back up, every successful entrepreneur I have ever spoken to have had/or currently have a mentor or other person they regularly consult

It might not be the first thing you do to get started but once you have a start in business a coach or mentor can help you jump past your sticking point.

I'm probably not going to convince you two that's its a good thing but if someone reading this see's these comments and it helps them, then I'm happy

LOL, I can't back up my opinion, but you can, because "every successful entrepreneur I have ever spoken to have had/or currently have a mentor or other person they regularly consult"?

            Jeez, talk about confirmation bias.

You did the right thing by getting a mentor. Regards to your young family member, he/she will need to by 18 & will need some money $29.95 to get started. This online program (The SFM) not only works but he/she won't get one but will have many, many successful online marketers that he/she can turn to at anytime. He/she will have access to all they need to get started as an affiliate. This includes affiliate links to get started straight away, websites, hosting (more advanced), laying the foundations, access to hundreds of videos, recorede webinars, weekly live trainings.

Lucian, don't confuse "having a mentor" with "hiring a mentor". In over four decades split between the corporate/small business world and owning my own businesses, I've always had a mentor or mastermind group to consult with. I've hired coaches and consultants.

One thing I've never done, nor will I ever do, is look to hire someone who bills themselves as a "mentor". There may be someone out there worth paying for "mentorship", but then again, some people believe in unicorns...

Good distinction, especially around here. My problem is with implying that one cannot be successful without a mentor, which is a view I do not adhere to. If this forum is used correctly, it can be a goldmine. You can ask a question here and there when things are not clear, but for the most part, a person can learn enough to put together a decent online business just by implementing ideas learned in this forum.

Sure... you can do that. You'll probably get lucky and make a couple bucks. BUT... if you spend a little time and read through what others on this form share (specifically to your question), you'll be much better off and would likely make a lot more money. Use the search feature!

Create your own site or blog and then find ways to promote it. Find different sites, forums, social media, groups, where others might share an interest.

          Listen to Lucian.

A waste of time. You need to tell your relative to actually own a asset by having his own Blog/Website.

          it's very cheap these days.

And then he can start thinking about the Affiliate links and what not.

Well I would say let him do that this way he will make couple bucks but make sure while he does that he would also try to learn other strategies and ways to market "things". So money he would make from posting his links all over the internet he would invest in domains, hostings, squeeze pages and so on. But for start of course he can do that why not. As long as it makes money it's all good You just need to make sure that You are moving forward

    Hi,

In order to guarantee the success, it is important to have a blog with relevant content and affiliate links placed in it. Promote that blog link all over social media.

Once the visitors find your blog useful with too much informative content, they will keep visiting it on a daily basis, and gradually your CTR (Click Through Rate) will increase on the affiliate links.

You can create a blog free. There are many sites where you can create your own free blog. However, I would personally suggest you Weebly Website Builder: Create a Free Website, Store or Blog, because I have experienced a huge success with Weebly.

You might make some money here and there depending on what your selling and how much you get this 'link' out there but you need to be able to entice people into clicking it and give them what they need.

You can't go on to a horse owner forum and try sell people chicken food.

Try it, then advise your family member.
