How did you find your niche?

What and how did you find your niche market online? did you discover it as a problem you faced? was it something that you noticed? It's really interesting to see how people discovered their niche and developed their products. It's always great to hear a history as well.

It can be something that interests you like a hobby or job related. Check out Clickbank and Amazon to get an idea of some good niches. You can also find a lot of niches by looking at magazines. I just recently picked a niche that I find really interesting and I have some experience.

Simple thing, when you become master of anything like internet marketing, cooking, plumbing and all. And you start doing blogging about it that's become your niche. I'm passionate about cycling so I have created my a niche site related to cycling.

I ended up searching ClickBank for niches that would appeal to me.

When I first got started with affiliate marketing I wanted to promote products in a niche I could see myself enjoying.

I didn't have a large marketing budget, so I had to create content to get traffic; hence I chose something I could see myself putting time towards.

I did by trying out a lot of different industries that were of interest to me, and then seeing where I could do my best, in terms of being happy with the work required, seeing market demand, etc.

Sometimes the stuff we want to do don't result in the equivalent market demand.

I wasn't looking for a niche when I found mine. I was shopping for myself and having trouble finding what I wanted. As I worked on solving this problem I discovered lots of people were having the same problem and I realized I could make money by providing the solution.

It's something I've been interested in my whole life.

My advice is find something you actually enjoy and are passionate about. If you pick a niche but absolutely hate it, you will eventually lose interest. Best thing to do is stick to something you know about and enjoy and go from there.

A lot of marketers go into a niche because they have some advantage in that topic. It could be their hobby, their education, their passion, their past employment or training, something they do very well, or know a lot about.

Others decide they want to learn about a particular topic so they become a student and learn about (through research and hands-on experience) the subject.

The idea in all of this is that you have an advantage over others in the niche because of what you already know. You are either an expert - or can become one with a little more effort.

And when you're an expert (or an authority) in that subject, you can:
      • teach it
      • create a blog about it
      • create products about it
      • make sensible recommendations about it
      • guide others in the subject
      • consult with businesses on the subject
      • create all the content you need for a business on the subject
It's all about profiting from a niche subject where you already have an advantage (and hopefully an interest or passion).

      Good luck to you,

      Steve

    How I got started online...
    1. Offline job
    2. Promoted into a new position
    3. Went home daily researching the niche
    4. Discovered thousands of other people involved in the niche as a hobby/small business
    5. Started sharing relevant content on same niche forum (similar in size to WF)
    6. Created a following directly on the niche forum (posted content daily on one sub-niche subject)
    7. Created own site
    8. Created new content for own site
    9. Continued adding new content directly on same niche forum (link bait)
    10. Funneled forum traffic into my evergreen sub-niche site

Things I've learned over the years...
    • Traffic will take anything free that's niche related, use that to your advantage (branding, traffic lure).
    • Target a single sub-niche, stay focused on one thing.
    • Be the go to person for a sub-niche.
    • Help people because you can, answer questions.
    • Noobs are the largest demographic.
    • Freebie seekers help build organic backlinks.
    • Doing things you enjoy doesn't feel like work (pick a niche you enjoy).

I'm not really sure what other people does but picking a niche isn't about money, maybe for some people but not for the most of them.

A niche borns just for passion, hobby or something that you want to learn really badly, because if you're going to be in this world you will need to get traffic and create content very often, not just content .... quality content, give people some value and help them solve problems within your niche.

To do so, you need to be interested about it because it will be a pain in the ass just to write something, create a product or even promote it. Now, if you love sports and you know a lot of stuff that could be your niche, every niche it's profitable. You will be creating content about sports and you will be very happy doing it, the sensation about even doing it for free because you really enjoy creating all of that content to share and help people out.

That's the right niche, if you don't know anything about cars but you see that it's a profitable niche, you need to start looking for content to create because you don't know anything about cars, will be a pain after weeks because you don't really care about it and if you don't make results, even worst .... just a nightmare.

Now if you love it, you have more chances to connect with your audience, since they are people just like you who love your topic and share the same feelings about it, that's the best way to do it, just find something you truly love or something you're willing to learn just to help people, offer great value. Sell the problem you solve, not the actual product, you can find affiliates for any niche, you can create products for any niche as well, be creative, honest and never give up my friend.

Pick something you like and just start. Over time, you'll start to find micro niches that do much better and you can focus to laser in from there.

For me it was a happy marriage between my hobby/interest and what I was most successful experimenting campaigns with. They were the same thing. I guess it's because I enjoy that particular hobby and I can talk all day about it

    Hey there,

It is simple to find your niche market as well as products to product.

Type your interest area in Google followed by the term "blog" to check out related blogs.

See what products they are promoting and how their blogs built.

Once you get a jest of everything, start your own blog and sign up with associated affiliate products.

As an example, if you are interested to start a gaming related blog, type in Google "game blog" and you will get a list of top ranked gaming blogs. Explore each one of them and start with your own taking reference of these blogs.

Like most that start in Online Marketing I decided to get into the IM niche doing reviews on Product launches.

From there I found other amazing niches that I am involved in now. There are a TON of ways to find niches.

Use Ezinearticles, Dummies website, Magazine sites and just look through sites like Amazon, Clickbank and Ebay.

I found mine by pure happenstance. I was in the "tattoo" niche first and it was making a little money but nothing to quit my day job for if you know what I mean. I had been advertising on a forum/site called "Inked Nation" (believe it's tanked now) and ran into some members that liked talking about the currency exchange market. Although Forex is definitely not a NEW niche I was intrigued enough to start a campaign and run it on a small budget. It was within 3 days I was sitting on a decent ROI... I thought it was a fluke so I tested it a bit more and the same numbers kept pushing through. So, I went head first into it and I haven't looked back yet. I do spend time in a few other niches but fx is my primary.

I will say that there are a lot of "HUGE FISH" in this space and there is a high attrition rate but I was able to get myself into the right channels and it's been a great ride for me for many years.

    Sincerely,
    *Anthony

I initially chose my niche because the barrier to entry was low. That resulted in oversaturation in that niche within a couple of years. Now, I follow my interests more deeply in order to help myself stay motivated even if there are natural ups and downs.

After nine years I have settled on two.

I've promoted literally hundreds of different niche products. For a couple years I made 30 - 60 second "video ads" I created off the vendor website or CPA landing pages, every day, like this:

A few made good money. Some made a little and some made none.

Through the process I learned a lot and realized that I was getting away from the marketing basic I learned many years ago.

I've restructured my business once again and am now promoting Autoreponders and website hosting only. They both pay recurring commissions.

Before one is able to find a suitable niche, I believe they should first assess their own skills. In order for an individual to find a niche they must have decent understanding of that niche itself. If you skills like in programming, you might find a niche or problem that has to be solved because you know something is missing and there is a market gap. Until a certain level of knowledge is obtained you will atmost reach the surface level of that niche and not enough to make any money. So find your skills first and a niche related to that skill.

      I solved my own problem.

I think for newbies especially, it is a very bad idea to try and make money in the niche they you aren't directly related to/don't have direct experience in.

I don't mean that you have to have made money in the niche before you can start making money in the niche.

What I mean is, look at your own life and find problems to solve.

For example, I use to be "skinny fat".

Meaning, I looked thin, but I ate so terribly that I was actually making myself sick. It was affecting other areas of my life etc.

So, I started looking into eating healthier etc. and built information marketing business around better eating etc.

When I started, I was terrible at eating. Have gone better, but I was able to solve problems for potential customers and create products that sold well because I actually had the problem. I knew what solved my problem, and more importantly, I knew the pain points of the specific problem I was solving with my product.

Having insights into the specific pain points of your target audience is like 99% of the game.

What kind of problems in your own life can you work to solve?

You don't have to be able to solve them right now.

Go to the library. Watch YouTube videos. Consume information.

Then package that information in a way that helps people.

      Get good at copywriting.

      Sell.

That's how you build an information marketing business.
