Well, not sure how I missed this all these years but....
I figure there must be some who also have and Newbies as well that this can help.

Simply type in https://images.google.com/ ===>type in The Rich Jerk ( ex.)===>at right corner of page go to
'Options' icon ( looks like a wheel figure) =====> scroll down press on 'Advance Search' ===>go down to where it say 'User Rights' ===> then scroll and push 'Free or Use or Share , even commercially'

and Viola....there you will have ALL the free images you need for your Websites, Blog, Articles etc..etc..in IM

I just tried one of my niches and all results are YT thumbnails or Wikipedia images. Most are branded.

You have to be careful with this. A lot of those images actually are copyrighted and have been mislabeled by people who have stolen the images. If you want to be sure to not use copyrighted images, either avoid this method or go to the source and make certain it is free to use (and make certain that free use includes for commercial purposes).

    Robert,

Everyone wants images they can freely use on their web site, for a product, for a blog, or a service, etc, but many don't understand the risk that can come from using "free" Google images . . . even those you may think are safe.

I have believed in the past that Google images is a safe alternative for anyone's use IF you used the Google advanced search feature and filtered your results to show only "free to use, share or modify, even commercially."

However, upon digging further into Google's explanations and fine print that comes after their search function filtering, you will find the following warning:

"If you find content with the wrong usage rights in the search results, let us know by reporting them in the help forum."

To make matters even worse, at the very bottom of their on-page narrative, in a section called "Find Content to Reuse," Google explains:
"Before reusing content that you've found, you should verify that its license is legitimate and check the exact terms of reuse stated in the license. For example, most licenses require that you give credit to the image creator when reusing an image. Google has no way of knowing whether the license is legitimate, so we aren't making any representation that the content is actually or lawfully licensed." (emphasis my own)
So even though you take Google at it's word and filter your search to show only "free to use, share or modify, even commercially" . . . Google weasles its way out of any claim that the image "is actually or lawfully licensed."

Even if you use the search function, you'd still need to check that the images are actually free to use.

There are loads of Free Photo sites, including Free Photo sites that have images that are free for commercial use. But, they may require attribution, and maybe in a specific way, so you'd still need to read the license/terms of use for each individual Free Photo Site before use.

There's also Photo Sites where the photographers put their photos in the public domain.

An example of a great Free Photo Site is Unsplash.

You have to be careful when choosing images. There are some who claim that they are the owner but they are really not.

You really have to use proper credits to avoid trouble in the future.

License? We don't need no stinking license!

Here's an idea for you to test. Try it with an image labelled "Getty Images" and let us know how that works out for you...
