From BloggingTips.com, how to build a personal brand in blogging

Having a personal brand is an indication of what you have to offer as a blogger. A personal brand builds skills and character. Use these five commandments to help you build yours:

1. Be good and do what you say you'll do

Understand your strengths and skills and how they are going to help the world. What is the aim of your writing? Make sure that whatever it is, you stick to it and fulfill your commitments. Focus on content 80% of the time.

2. Tell stories

People relate to stories better, no matter what format it's in- text, video, images. All successful people share their stories, which makes them relatable and more interesting.

3. Have uniform online presence

Making sure you use the same name across all your channels is important. Neil Patel has NeilPatel.com, Zac has ZacJohnson.com and so on. It is crucial to have the same identity across all your media platforms. Uniformity in this sense means having the same name, domain and image.

4. Do not appeal to everyone

It is impossible to, and writing about unrelated subjects can affect your efforts to build a personal brand. Focus on one skill or field instead of trying to be the jack of all trades. You run the risk of becoming the master of none.

5. Create and build influential relationships

Use tools like Brand Mentions to network with industry influencers. With this particular tool, you can even search for a particular person or brand to see their online presence, or better still, measure your own brand presence.

In conclusion

Your personal brand is a highly valuable currency. Be focused and you'll build a strong personal brand.

Getting harder and harder to do with blogging alone, blogging can still be key platform, but you need to branch out into other content distribution platforms such as FB, Youtube, Podcasting, and increasingly streaming video. Most of the successful bloggers have already figured this out...but it is worth mentioning.

Vlogging has still big potential. That's for sure. Working social platforms are also must these days. Personally though I still like normal blogs even if it's not that trendy now .
