Hey,

I have a problem, can you help?

I have a spread sheet dated
8/1/09 with 1500 items on it.

I have another spread sheet dated 9/1/2009
with 1525 items on it.

I know that items have been added and I know items have
been deleted, the problem is I don't which ones.

Can you tell me of a way to compare the two spread sheets
that will tell me what's new and what's gone?

With out having to read each line myself of course.

Thanks

Copy the contents of "sheet B" to a new column in "Sheet A" goto "Conditional Formating" in office 2007 it can be located at "Home" tab in "Styles" panel. Select both columns click on "Conditional Formating" > "Highlight Cells Rules" and select "Duplicate Values", the ones that are not highlighted are are contents that exist in one sheet but not other.

If you have several columns in both sheets, for example you have "date", "customer name", "customer ID", "Product purchased" columns in both sheet then just copy the primary column (like customer ID or serial number) from both sheets into a new sheet and use the method above to sort out the missing ones.
