Getting rid of distractions...
1. Child. He is cute and I love him, but there is a time to work and a time to play, he thinks its time to play all the time.
2. Cooking. Bless her heart she is doing something really good, but I can't concentrate when pans are being banged around. I need more sound proofing.
3. Phone. Not my phone, but her phone. She talks very loud to whoever is on it.
4. Door knockers. People seem to come to our door and sell all kinds of crap. Even if I don't answer, it bothers me and takes me off point when they knock or ring.
5. WarriorForum. I just have to see what comment was made on that thread in the last 20 minutes.
6. Messy house: for some reason I am not comfortable working when there is a mess everywhere. I tend to want to clean it all , then I am happy to work. Same with a pile of laundry. By the time I get done, I'm beat , there goes my productivity.
7. Family obligations: Suddenly I'm told "We have to go to. _______ for ___________" and it's a family thing and we would be jerks for not going. These never seem to be planned.
Working from home sounds really good but you end up wishing for an office to go to that is physically removed from the home. When family sees you on the computer, they tend not to think "job" but thing "games" and don't mind tearing you away from it.
Who works from home but has a workable system to get rid of distractions?
