which one is the best?

Hi! We need a new logo for our article writing service biz.

From the 6 concepts below, which one suits the business best and why do you think so?

Just write the concept # and the reason why you think it's the one we should pick.

Your input will be much appreciated. TIA!

      Thank you, Brian!

I'm off to bed now (it's midnight where I am). Hope to be able to make an informed choice when I get up a few hours later.

Agree it is between nr 5 and 6. But nr 5 "stands out more" and grab your attention
immediately and is clearer. Nr 4 is great but maybe too fancy. I'm a sucker for
images logos etc but it must grab you at first sight. Very good work done as logos
is somehow difficult to get done. Some of the best examples I've seen. Who was the creative soul?

Concept 6 - is my favourite, because it illustrates the service you are providing, clearing with the pen and the font type.

Concept 5 - stands out, and is more visually appealing. I dont really like the feather, it reminds me of the old days. Prefer the pen..

you could combine concept 5 and 6 together.

      Preference in the following order:
      1. #5 stands out most.
      2. #4 is very distinctive.

I agree with the majority that #5 and #6 are the best. (I also agree that #5 would be better with a pen rather than the quill.)

One consideration is how the logo will look in black and white. If you choose #5, make sure the designer creates a black and white version for you.

I like #4 the most. The combination of the cursive type design and the bold letters with the quill says Professional, to me, more than the other designs.

#5 Is very web 2.0. And very appealing also.

    Though, #4 has hidden awesomeness.
You just need to make the blue a "denser" blue (closer to black, then white on colour scale). At the moment it has that '90's link blue'.. which is crap, lol. The 'smiths' text isn't suitable either.

    Man, I miss photoshop...

5 is most powerful, but 4 would be great too is it had different colours.

On a sidenote, I'd change the tagline as well. It's too vague. Sounds more like ideological statement than something that's relevant to your customers.

Make it more sharp, benefit oriented ... maybe rip off on FedEx and say,

"WHEN YOU ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, HAVE TO HAVE AN ARTICLE WRITTEN OVERNIGHT"

    Hope it helps

#6 is my favorite - It's simple, but interesting.. and it's something that people can remember, which is important.

#5 is also nice, it's definately a little more "branded", and something people would get used to and expect as a logo.

#4 I like because of the color.

How are those little hammers relevant in some of the designs? None of my business I know, just curious.

Hi there, as a graphic designer myself my humble opinion is that
Concept #5 is the strongest by far,

when you view all six, #5 jumps out at you,... its the clearest logo
and the word -Article - is stronger and stands out more than the
less important word - Smith- unlike in the other logo versions, this is your key word!

only concern with #5 is than if not using the logo in full colour (ie B/W) the feather icon may fade into grey background, would suggest a bigger tonal contrast between this two colours
    hope all goes well
