How do I give away Free products

My friend Mr Davies has told me he gets a lot of replies from giving away Free products.
I'm pretty new to all of this and I assumed everyone would want something for nothing but that is not the case.

Getting good rankings is something I thought would increase traffic but I was wrong there too.

Is it possible that absolutely nobody would want the products I give away out of a few billion people.

Back to clickbank and find a better niche I suppose.

There are so many free products out there. If your free product has tons of value, then I don't see any reason... why someone wouldn't want it.

Giving away free products/tools, is a good way to brand yourself and entice people to buy your paid products later on.

Hi Carol, is the link for your book the one at the bottom?

hey thanks for answering by the way, yes i would like to make a few cents one day.

Done a few sales at clickbank but they've never sent me any money yet, they keep it every time i make a sale.

Make sure you capture your prospects name and email before they access the free report though ( I use aweber ...$1 trial at the mo too I think!)

what kind of free product and what is your goal in giving them away (traffic, list, sales, etc.)?

I've had pretty good luck uploading free books on bittorrent sites.

There are over 30 books on the site and I suppose my goal is a list. I have 5 on this list and those are people I already know.
The site has been up since august.

so how are you promoting your site. I guess I really don't understand what you're trying to do. Did you just slap 30 books up on a site and say 'download these for free, oh and if you want, sign up for my list'? If so, you're not going to get anything from that. You have to give the site a spin that will get people's attention. What are you going to do with the list? Will they get more free stuff/better free stuff if they join? What makes your free stuff better than bob's free stuff? I'm just having a hard time understanding your plan - maybe you don't have one?

A Plan? Now there's something else I should try. You see, I read that having a website and a product is as much use as a grain of rice in china so I must attract people to my product by giving away something free.
      You are right. No Plan.
All the site tells "them" is that there are over 30 amazing books 'free'. with a capture page.
Plan 'A' in this case would be to offer them something else later. with a splash page an offer page and another free gift.

I've not done this 'giving away stuff' yet so I'm running on hunches here.

Ok, but what is your product? Typically when someone sets up a site and they're going to give away something in exchange for a name/email then they know exactly what and how they're going to promote. What are you promoting?

By different domain name I meant www.keywordyouwanttrafficfor.com not

        radomwordsyouthinkpeoplewilltype.mrgoldfinder.com

unless you're trying to sell them on your gold mine business then IMO this should not be on that domain. They are two completely different things and therefore require two completely different domains.

I feel like you read somewhere that you can make money by giving free stuff away so that's what you're doing. But what the rest of the report said is that you make money because people sign up for your free report and then you can market your product to them. If you don't know what you're going to market to them you won't have a targeted list so you won't make any money.

Find a product to promote, register a domain name, put up some general content on the subject, give away a free report that is related to that subject and then use the email list you get from the free report to sell to the people you know are interested in that product.

I'm sorry if I'm way off base. I just get the feeling that you're throwing darts about randomly hoping something sticks rather than coming up with an actual plan of attack.

OK, I understand what you are saying. I'm not in a position to buy domains every day but I think I do have about 12 already. Admittedly I should take my gold mine off that page as it has a site of it's own and just use mrgoldfinder as a product site.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my other stuff anyway. I shall remove my goldmine and concentrate on putting up pictures of the products instead.

As for writing reports, that's something I will have to read up on.

Most of my 'whatevernameitis.mrgoldfinder' sites are on page one of google already but again, no sales because of the name I now assume.

is this the site in your sig? if so, you really need a different domain name. do some keyword research because I can pretty much guarantee you no one is searching for the domain name it's on...

YOu can give away ebooks, just make sure they are valuable to your target audience. I did the exact same thing (in my sig). Make sure you sign up with Aweber and start building a list. Just make sure you add real value to the subscribers. Make your follow ups meaningful and try to give a way a lot of free stuff. That is how you build trust. I learned that the hard way.

I went through the process of getting your free books (not that I really needed them) and I've found several problems...
    1. yes, that subdomain should be something shorter and more meaningful...
    2. the squeeze page doesn't really convince me to subscribe + I have no idea what exactly I am going to get (maybe I already have them!)
    3. instead of that join button you should have the subscription form on that page
    4. when the visitor decided to go with your offer... you throw in a roadblock - a completely unrelated offer to buy. It is wrong in this place!
    5. next, I barely could find the button to continue to my subscription
    6. when I finally gave my name/email to you - I was lead to the download page. Wrong again because in this way I will never confirm my subscription to your list: I don't need it, I already got the stuff...
    7. send first the confirmation request and after that the download link
    8. on the thankyou page (after giving my name&email) explain me what to do with the confirmation email AND hit me here with your irresistible offer
    9. I don't know why I would be interested in posters if I was looking for IM books
    10. maybe offer less in one step: make a group of books that are related, so you can get more targeted traffic for it... and another one around another topic etc.

    Hope this helps.

WAIT!! wait until I stop sobbing please, OK, Thank you Istvan. I have copied your post and will re-arrange the site 2morrow. It is also the first time I have used an autoresponder.
I think, for a first attempt, the very fact one can download a book is, to me, genius.

So what happened to th confirmation link? Did you actually get one?

I shortened the name of the site.

So, what you are saying is cut down the number of books and move the offer to the page before the download page and after the confirmation page........ I think.

    OK, don't sob

As for the squeeze page (where you "sell" me your free books and ask for my email) look at the sites in bertuseng's signature. There are book covers, short descriptions - so I know exactly what I am signing up for.

As for the process you can go through it by clicking on the free report link in my sig:
    - you type in your name&email
    - you get to a thankyou page (explains what to do next) - I don't have an offer there but you can include one
    - then you get the email asking to confirm the subscription
    - when you confirm, you get to the download page

Hopefully, this clarifies it. Good luck!

Ok, Now the form page leads to the offer page. and the link at the bottom of the offer page leads to the thank you page. I'll get this before midnight guys.
also. there was no sign of your name anywhere in the autoresponder, nor mine come to think of it, even though I got the confirmation email.

Must talk to henrik about this.

Actually, it is getting worse and worse... stop messing with it until you understand how the process should work.
First jut make sure the streamlined process to make them sign up works... and you can work later on adding special offers to it.

I use a throw-away email for this kind of testing
